Genius1111 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Even if Taylor declines in the next few years, we would not be WITNESSing a total collapse, unlike a certain friend of hers. The real funny part would be if Taylor and team still deciding to skip the Philippines post-2028, despite the demand and the infrastructure.
Jotham Posted July 11 Posted July 11 The people who think this is "white worshiping" are not okay. The condescending way some ATRLers act toward Filipinos is weird. 1 6

Taylor is loved everywhere, not just in white countries 13

I don't see any reason to believe it won't be a rational investment Well fair point. I did not put any deeper meaning behind what I said. My statement is only based on that tweet and the headline. It's still strange TO ME (which is allowed to happen) to be like "Hey lets build a TS Stadium so she can tour 2028 here even tho we don't know if she wants to". They just could have said that they build it for large concerts, events etc. Why does it need to be marketed as a Taylor Swift thingy? But again, no harm to the swifties and im out, peace.
Sergi91 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Filipinos have a weird taste in music… Thalia having the best selling album there says a lot 1
Alongoria13 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) Don't they have the Phillippines arena already? It is the same size as La Defense Arena were Taylor played with no issue. I think this is more of a profitabilty thing? The Singapore deal for the Eras Tour probably earned her a bigger profit than shipping that massive stage throughout major cities in the area. kellebrity98 Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) nice. at first she pollutes the air and now she destroys forests just to have her own stadium to perform 3 concerts per 2-3 years. such a spoilt brat. Edited July 11 by kellebrity98
sxmescudi Posted July 11 Posted July 11 when people realize how mediocre she is by that time, then what? 1 1 1
Patient Zero Posted July 11 Posted July 11 This is actualy impressive. By that time she has released 12 new albums and 69065895893 variants. More than enough material to do at least 8 dates and performances lasting at least 5 hours. Give the Swifties all the bloat they love. 2
Forevermore. Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) Every time Asia gets brought up in the discussion of Taylor's success the narrative goes to either "Asians are white actually" or "It's the white-worshipping Asians again". Being condescending and patronizing to an entire race just because a musical artist you don't like is popular in their region, and there are actually people supporting these sentiments. Insane. And the irony is, this forum worships Europe and uses it to gauge success and globalness, you know, the continent with all the non-white population... 2
Baltie Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) I'm a Filipino, and I have to say that the fact that our government is prioritizing this stadium over other more pressing matters like improving our public transportation, crime rates, wages, etc. is just messed up. Even worse, our ultra corrupt politicians are so desperate for Taylor to come here that this is one of their priorities. Lowkey want Taylor to pay this stadium dust just to spite them. We have to accept that our country is not yet ready to have big Eras Tour-like productions unless our roads and transportation system improve. Heck, when Bruno Mars came here and had his concert at the Philippine Arena, the traffic was so bad, lots of people missed almost the entire show Edited July 12 by Baltie 3
Axolotl Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) As a Filipino, I'm so excited for this. We don't have big venues so this would open the way to more international acts touring here. She's also the biggest artist here by a long margin. Edited July 12 by Axolotl

It's because Taylor has been a cultural phenomenon here ever since Fearless. Everyone knows her here and from different eras too. I once caught my 65-year old mother singing Safe and Sound of all things.

JC. Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Ok, but what if Singapore empty their pockets out on her again and the Philippines get paid dust
