However, she probably wouldn't have worked with him if she herself didn't feel comfortable with working with him. He's behind some of her biggest hits. Maybe she thinks she owes him for it? Her career was struggling back in the mid 00s after being dropped by several labels. Him and Max believed in her producing her biggest hits to date right after. I don't think it's an excuse, but it's likely her reasoning.

 

And at the end of the day, how twisted it might be perceived, this industry is about making money. Her and her label want to make a profit. No wonder she would go back to the man she made hundreds of millions of dollars with producing music. Again not a valid excuse since Max would've sealed the job on his own.

Hmm! Let's see. Ethel decides to start doing business with Dr Luke in 2020, when he and Kesha were embroiled in what was then a six-year lawsuit. There is no end in sight, and he hasn't had his re-emergence with Say So. Katy starts working with Luke in 2023, after he and Kesha settle the lawsuit. Yes, that's different, for sure.

 

So working with an 'alleged rapist' is fine if you "don't have many choices at a chance at success". My God, the goalposts. How they shift!

As i said before, Katy always had her image super attached to Dr. Luke. That's the reason why she was one of the main topics when Kesha made public her situation with him and that's the reason why everyone in the industry is calling her out for collab with him again now. Those excuses of why no one called Nicki Minaj ( as if someone thinks she could do any better) won't happen.
