Expected her vocals to be a little more powerful

 

She is serving Gaga but without the power vocals. This song would've been great live if she had the chops to deliver it flawlessly.

 

She just looks like a Gaga tribute but without the voice.

Why? Because I have a Taylor Swift avi? I like her music, I haven't claimed she's a powerhouse vocalist. Your point isn't relevant, but ok.

 

However with GLB live performance, I feel like it would've benefitted from more powerful vocals like what Gaga could deliver. With the costume and lack of vocals she just seems like a cheap Gen-Z gaga.

her next era is gonna be HUGE. this what we need in pop music !!!! someone who doesn't care about dressing crazy, someone that can perform, someone that can put on a show. she's soo unique and you can tell she has the work ethic. CHAPPEL ROAN EVERYBODY!

gurl what? she has amazing vocals, and this was an incredible performance. i dont understand what you mean by "powerful vocals" or calling her a "rip-off gaga" ? i hope you dont expect her to have vocals close to someone like whitney houston or mariah carey notes...

Does the audio sound muted or muffled to anyone else? Roan sounds good but the audio seems weird. Also it's really not fair to judge her vocals (again she sounds great and more in tune than a lot of seasoned artists out there) off of what I believe was her first televised performance, she probably was a little reserved than she might have other wise been.

she looks absolutely gorgeous, I'm loving the performance. 


I can see where vocal critics might be coming from, but she's just starting out. you have to remember that Gaga wasn't as good of a vocalist in the beginning of her career as she is now, give Chappell some time to grow. 

 

also maybe she should try performing this song (especially its chorus) in a slightly lower range, where she seems to be more comfortable. live vocals don't have to match the studio version to a T.

Her voice is more reminiscent of Kate Bush with her yodel flips. Also she doesnt really have a Rock/Theatrical approach to her vocals. 

+ her belts are well supported and solid at the end of the performance.

 

GLB is just a very demanding song with all its changes from chest to head voice and the fragility in certain parts of the song

 

Im pretty sure Chappell would nail a Shallow performance tbh

UHM WHAT!? Girl she was nearly pitch perfect and was switching from her chest, to mix, to head voice throughout the entire song. And literally belted in her upper register and SUSTAINED it multiple times. That's a hard a** feat for ANY singer and even VERY WELL trained singers. :deadbanana2:

What I loved most about this performance is that it was STRIKING. The outfit and her just honing the energy that embodies this song. She was f*cking amazing.

she's literally in the middle of performing at countless festivals ... be fr her voice is prob tired and she STILL killed it

She's growing on me. I haven't listened to any of her albums, just the 2-3 hits she has right now but I like her presence and ability to actually sing not everybody has that.
