Britney's was by pure interest and authenticity, while Taylor's was by capitalism and variants.

Taylor peaked at the height of streaming "sales", 31 second listens counting as a stream and 40 track albums. You can't compare the pair.

You can come for Taylor but... Using Britney's "authenticity" as an artist to downplay Taylor :deadbanana:

Britney's the label puppet of all label puppets. Sit down.

This thread is about pure album sales. But thank you for pointing out that people can't bother to listen to Britney's music for even 31 seconds

By authenticity, I mean people were actually going out and buying her albums without extra variants.

If Britney career took place during the age of streaming… it wouldn't even be close. Why do people have such a hard time admitting that Britney is the blueprint and a historic artist? it takes nothing from taylor to admit that lol.

I think the insecurity comes from the fact that there is no world taylor swift exists in without Britney Spears. And theres no world Britney exists without Madonna. And so on.

its just history, stans should get over it

I think she meant people were authentically interested in Britney as a person; her celebrity isn't smoke and mirrors.

It's okay, no one is comparing Britney to Taylor, Taylor is at 211M total units at this point, overtaking  Madonna by the end of the year as the 5th bestselling artist of all time. Britney is sitting comfortably at #50 or so with less than half of that amount sold

different stratosphere of artists were talking about here

Taylor is amassing units and sales from casual music listeners and non-fans just by them pressing play on YouTube or Spotify and none of them would've paid for Taylor album so there are pros and cons in each era. Non-Britney fans are not included in her sales while non-Taylor fans are.

No matter the source, Brit would still be at least top 5 and XtiN/A at the bottom if they're feeling generous with the cut out. The absolute emptiness in that little head of yours.

Also, no need to downplay Taylor's or Brit's success. They both came out on top of their respective generations and their peers all had the same tools as them in their arsen/al yet failed to even come close to them.

Britney's pure sales include BMG Club sales, a good chunk of the first 3 albums are essentialy free copies inflating RIAA certifications. So don't be that selective on "pure interest and authenticity".
