NME exposes Sabrina's autoplay

She uses autoplay as she should and we love to see it. It'd only be a problem if Taylor was using it imo.

does autoplay not work with spotify premium users? i only use my own playlists but i tried the shuffle feature and i just get recommended music that's similar to my music taste, never espresso or any other songs mentioned that apparently get spammed for people

genuinely asking, is this true for Spotify premium? I listen to my playlists all the time and have not once heard espresso during?

Autoplay only works if you play a single song or use the "go to song radio" option.

based on my experience, Playlists work differently because it recommends songs that are similar to the songs on your playlist. you can see it on the very bottom of your playlist

We're not talking about Lemonade here. Which wasn't even auto played, it was ghost played, tbh.

the real question is why do people still use autoplay when you can just turn it off in the settings? it's 2024 come on now

and if it's because you use free account then get premium it's 2024, student subscription is like half the price too

Espresso, Birds of a Feather and Flowers have been the most obvious examples of autoplay these past couple of years. That said, I'm not complaining because I actually like all three songs and artists overall... It's just it's become so obvious now.

Ppl saying Taylor has autoplay CLEARLY dont follow daily streaming patterns and stuff :skull: You could MAYBE make the argument for her first few days because they are so massive that u could get away with lying and saying she uses autoplay but after that her streaming patterns look extremely organic AF. You wont catch any weird and sudden / unexplainable increases in her streams unlike Flowers (and more recently PX3) experienced. They literally would just and decrease in such random ways it made zero sense. Both songs are great btw just saying....you cant look at those clear examples of auto play and claim Taylor has done that for Fortnight or whatever when the way the song has been performing is extremely normal....

Its really hard to compare the current hits with hits from years ago on streaming due to increase in autoplay:clack:
I mean playlist payola was always a thing but now its playlisting AND autoplay which inflates the numbers even more

Shes definitely big and the songs are hits but the numbers are still a bit inflated (i'd say they'd be around 8M~ without autoplay so still huge)

I think these sort of deals involve some sort of profit sharing arrangement where the artist ends up charting higher and becoming more famous and Spotify and UMG end up taking a higher percentage.

But my thing is, I don't see how autoplay is THAT different from paying for your song to be on heavy rotation on the radio, for example. I feel like that's just a record label trying to make a song a hit, which, in my opinion, is a good thing - and literally their job??. Sabrina was paid dust on Hollywood Records, even though she has major star quality: can sing, dance, great personality, she's entertaining to watch... Now, she has a label that's investing in her.

She is an industry plant DOWNE. It's obvious.

Espresso is a bop though so I'd rather that song than her others.

Thats so true. 10m now is not the same thing it was 1 and a half years ago.
Autoplay has way more impact than playlisting now and its numbers are massive. Its truly not fair to compare!

with that said, goooo Sabrina.

Does Apple Music has autoplay too???  :skull:

Because she's #1 there too

I dont think is autoplay. The song is that good. Is one of the catchiest pop singles in years. The video is also so good.
This type of articles dont help anyone.
So, they want her to flop and for all those boring male singers like post malone, kendrick, morgan wallen, drake to rise?
no thanks. we are happy with this pop takeover

As if this doesn't happen with EVERY major artist. Like I was listening to Duki yesterday and autoplay started with Birds of a Feather :deadbanana4:

not her first time paying for autoplay, she did it last year too

It's not just Sabrina... We are simply in the era of autoplay now, every major hit is being pushed heavily using this feature (for MPGs this year I've had Fortnight, WCBF, Texas Hold 'Em, and recently Espresso and BOAF).

It doesn't mean their success is fabricated. Actually it seems like the bigger the hit, the more push it gets from Spotify. In a month or so, the next big smash will be released & everyone will complain about that song being spammed on autoplay too :michael:

This. All big hits get pushed harder automatically by Spotify, simply because Spotify wants you to spend as much time as possible listening to music and figures popular songs are popular for a reason, so pushing them onto more people have a likelier chance of sticking than almost any other song.

That said, it's also entirely possible she's using autoplay, we know it's a feature that exists and she has used it before. I just don't know that you can automatically assume that's the case. It's a little more up in the air big organic big hits. It's like regular radio, the more popular a song is, the more they'll play it.

It's very obvious when songs get heavy push from autoplay (and when they're removed from it) even if they're genuine hits. Their stans will still downvote you and call you bitter though

They forgot the part that EVERYONE on social media is actually talking about Espresso and Please x3. You can't buy social media attention.

You know what's funny, Spotify is still not a thing in my country despite arriving officially 4 years ago - youtube is, and I mentioned the song at work few days ago and literally no one heard it. So Autoplay on Spotify obviously has an impact on people and charts where Spotify is main platform to consume music.

Not true. I never played Sabrina song in my life, I've only known her from Zara's WOW remix from 2019 but didn't listen to it. And I get Espresso after everything single song.
