It deserved that No. 1 though. I like it more than Melodrama...but I'm sure this will surpass it in time.

Same. I only got into PH a year after release. I like Melodrama a lot though. More than PH at first tbh. At least she has a no.1 album now anyway. :clap3:

Did they mean SEA instead of SPS? There's no way that 2 Chainz is higher than Lorde overall.

nope SPS. Difference is not that big so could happen. it's only 1 day too so it can definitely change

Wow RCA really dropped the ball on getting Britney an easy #1, all it takes is the right release week apparently.

Well even if Lorde doesn't get the #1 it's still a quality album that WILL be included in the AOTY grammy category

What hit single? Still it's a bit bizarre that Lorde did lower than halsey, given that she actually has a fan base and much more acclaimed.

Now Or Never is top 10 on pop radio and has been inside the top 15 on Spotify (where it's still relatively stable). And Halsey definitely has a fan base— otherwise she wouldn't have been able to pull 106k for BADLANDS without much mainstream exposure.

It's funny how everyone is saying these sophomore album predictions are "good numbers" but when Kesha's

"WARRIOR" sold 86k during the first week it was somehow a catastrophic flop and worthy of immense ridicule.

if you don't see difference in music market between 2012 and 2017 then this discussion has no sense

Tragic sales.

The fact that artists nowadays can get a #1 album with such low figures.... but congrats :clap3: she deserves it.

Girl we've known this for years... Lorde debuted at #3 in 2013 with 130k and that should have been an easy #1 :rip:

Sia had a #1 album with 50k sales a few years ago so these numbers are not that shocking for a #1 in 2017. But theyre not great for Lorde as she has no hits to keep the sales alive. So it could divebomb pretty fast in coming weeks and never be seen again.

Good for lorde considering she's been on a long break and her lead single wasn't really a hit :clap3:

2 Chainz is slaying streaming. He's going to block her :rip:

No he's not. He would need a lot more streaming and actual album sales.

If you look at the original prediction's Lorde's streaming is factored in as being low and 2 Chainz high streaming is factored in with his actual physical sales.

So well deserved. The best album since The Fame Monster (drag me for that if you must, but it's tea.) I know it's too soon to truly make claims like that, because obviously the album isn't full of radio smashes, but it's just such a fully thought out, concise, well articulated, piece of art. It really is. :jonny: And all achieved within the realms of pop. Ugh legend.

Didn't have time to count, but 2 Chainz has some higher streaming songs (4 AM at #20), but Lorde has all 11 songs in the top 200 right now, so perhaps not a huge difference.
