I mean yeah but this is literally only gonna go #1 because of the tactics... you don't just increase over 90k units because of streaming lol.

You can't take out one person's sales tactics and ignore the fact that Billie also had over a dozen vinyl variants, signed CDs, signed vinyls, cassettes, paint-splashed CDs, acapella digital edition albums, etc.

Bottom line is that if you removed all of that for both of them, Taylor would've still been #1 because she had more streams. :michael:

Doing 300k is amazing, also going #1 isn't everything, longevity is the stuff people remember the most.

ATRL acting like Taylor is only #1 because of tactics to boost pure sales when the reality of the situation is that she was also #1 in terms of streaming units :rip:

Don't say that. They'll spiral even more. Have some mercy :jonny5:

Billie only had 8 vinyl variants, not "over a dozen" :rip:

and that's not even the point. It's Billie's debut week, of course, she's gonna have all those.

The point is that Billie would easily be going #1 had Taylor not released and pushed these new versions out coincidently affecting the week Billie, aka the one who "shaded" Taylor so badly, releases her new album.

Literally the definition of Taylor's albums + career. :clap3:

Even her 15-variant recyclable spray-painted vinyls couldn't save her.

Taylor #1 with voice memos :ahh: This reminds me of the time when she went #1 on iTunes in Canada for a mis-upload of 3 minutes of static lol

I know it can rebound but CC leaving the top 10 in just 6 weeks is kinda disappointing considering how big is Texas

Ouch.

The biggest flop of 2024. Rest in piss.

Why do I feel like not going to #1 can somehow affect the chance of the album getting AOTY.

That would be an incorrect feeling, plenty of non #1 albums have won AOTY. Even recently, like Kacey's Golden Hour.

The Grammys are decided by musicians, producers, writers, and label executives in the industry. The charts are driven by public (& fan) consumption. Two different markets to appeal to. With reviews, metacritic, year end lists, and other publications being a separate third market to appeal to as well.

I am kind of perplexed why Billie's team chose to release only a month after Taylor, knowing full well that TTPD was predicted to have huge numbers, that her albums do very large numbers in the weeks following release, and that Taylor's team will make moves to try and secure additional weeks at #1. And I don't buy that they just don't care about chart positions, because even if Billie doesn't personally care, her team and label most definitely do with all the variants. Just seems odd to set her up like this, when they could have released a few weeks later and most certainly had a #1 debut.

If all these complainers would buy the album multiple times then maybe just then maybe the whisper singer could take #1 from the queen but so sad boo whoooo

The album is good though.

I believe it will have longevity.

if billie simply showed some professionalism, respect and gratefulness toward artists like taylor who opened so many doors for her

She has. They decided to take the more ambiguous statement she made, and make it seem like she was targeting Taylor :rip:

OT: At this point, this is just amusing :skull: Good for Taylor ig. Ray of Light had a peak of #2 as well :clap3:

Billie's team clearly had a big campaign planned out well in advance with magazine interviews and most importantly a tour .

Taylor kinda of sprung it on the industry with her grammy's announcement. it's likely that they had finalized their date and promotion before taylor's announcement. they likely  don't want to waste their promotion by pushing the album back anymore and thought week 5 was safe enough.

Billie is in a darling league at this point and has won big with songs that haven't even charted top 10 lol. A #2 peak won't affect anything.
