4 weeks is not the ceiling for success. Thats all there is to it. She nor her team have any sort of obligation or ethical need to surrender the possibility of continuing their streak at the top. Amazon doesn't shut their site down for a month so EBay can catch up in revenue..

She doesn't owe Billie anything. They're not even friends.

 

This logic is like saying the world's #1 lawyer should not win as many cases so that other lawyers (who they don't know personally) can have more chances to be the #1.

 

Just because Taylor has the same job as Billie it doesn't mean she needs to care about her more than herself and her own chart success.

i suppose, maybe its me being naive and believing that the music and art is what really matters at the end of the day for these people, but times like this show that our faves are brands who care more about being #1 than putting out great art

this analogy doesn't even work. I would hope the #1 lawyer in the world would be trying to make the most ethical decisions and not thinking about lining their pockets 24/7. Music is an art form. It's not just about chart success. Allowing room for other artists to get the spotlight doesn't diminish Taylor's accomplishments.
