Kyoto Posted May 21 Posted May 21 12 minutes ago, RideOrDie said: If artists like Lana or Taylor didn't exist and didn't go through the struggles they experienced by the public and media, young female nepo baby songwriters like Billie who blew up with social media doing bedroom pop music would not be getting respected and winning such prestigious awards with their first albums. Lana and Taylor got hated so hard so that artists like Billie can be loved and respected from day 1. She would not be anywhere near the same status if she was older and tried to debut like before Lana and Taylor's trials and tribulations, she would have been so clowned by the media and GP. Even Lorde got flack in her debut era just so Billie can do whatever the **** she wants It seems like Lana opened the doors for Billie...

Taylor and her team would have done this whenever the #1 spot was in jeopardy yet still within reach. It really has nothing to do with Billie… The same way Billies comments turned into her "criticizing Swift" 2 1

But the real enemy here is whos the hell streaming those Morgan albums. MTE...maybe Billie can go #1 the week after or a couple of weeks later. Her records have insane longevity too and maybe on Taylor's like 10th week she can release limited edition acrylic nail polish versions of H&M and sneak herself a peak at #1 tbh! That way everyone wins and gets a prize and ATRL can calm down 2
Popular Post PoisonedIvy Posted May 21 Popular Post Posted May 21 Calling upon basically every fandom in existence to try and topple one artist Is Taylor the Thanos of Pop? We're gonna need some mightier avengers if so 18
AvadaKedavra Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) I love Billie so much and her new album is definitely her "Magnum Opus" but this is totally karma Cause lately she's been too "cocky" with her social takes. Acting like she's the most conscious artist ever And better "Human Being" than the other popstars. She's lately always outraged about everything like halsey-demi and thats turning people off too. U get what u give billie The cobra strikes again. A new (dead mouse-creature of the forest) ready to digest. Edited May 22 by AvadaKedavra 3 6

Leptine Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Interscope has also its blames for this result, the chances that Swift was still pulling high numbers one month from her release weren't that hard to imagine and releasing an album without a single in advance was a risky move in said context, I'm sure Billie would have benefited more in having a first single out in advance, however her numbers still remains great all considered.

Her debut album was the longest charting of the decade and helped her receive a BNA nomination at the Grammys. She has been accepted in the industry since day 1. 1 2

Orsay Posted May 21 Posted May 21 What were Taylor's numbers last week? Is it possible Billie could go #1 next week as long as Taylor doesn't commit chart fraud again? 1
wastedpotential Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I didn't realize Taylor was reaching some milestones like these this week 4

I mean is it weirder than releasing a song titled "Clara Bow," which reflects on an industry that cycles through female artists? All the while, maneuvering to prevent another fairly new female artist from reaching #1? It feels off, esp. considering a #1 debut for Billie's record could be important to underrepresented LGBTQ groups. Fairgame if Taylor would have clinched it without her tactics. 2 4 5

brenda-walsh Posted May 21 Posted May 21 my whole thing is, what's the point for Taylor to go out of her way to block another artist from the #1 spot? it's not like her album won't return to #1 the very next week and its not like she doesn't already have a trillion weeks at #1 already. i understand being competitive and caring about the commercial success of your work but its stuff like this that makes people (rightfully) dislike her. it gets to a point where its sociopathic. her album has been out for a month now and she's still pulling these stunts? i could understand if billie released the same week or the next week, but like 5 whole weeks later is a bit extra 9 3 1

Material Girl Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I spoke to Taylor. She knows she doesn't have the #1 album this week. Billie has the #1 album in AMERICA! 3 albums in, #1 in 86 countries. 7 1
