The way I see is there is no winning for Taylor.

A young gen z artist whose new album is very much loved by the public is getting blocked by a polarising 30 track album from a woman pushing 40 but still acts like she's in high school. There will be so many articles criticising her antics. The imminent backlash from the geepee.

But in the spirit of radical poptimism, we should all still be SO PROUD of HAMAS. A well produced 10 track album, with the main focus on artistry, pushing boundaries, divulging highly personal glimpse of the artist' life, and not trying to please to the commercial taste, is debuting upwards of 300k??? That's unheard of.

Regardless of how this turns out, well done Billie and Finneas :WAP:

Not these stupid swifties being brave over Billie. We all know Taylor is light years bigger than Billie, why are you even wasting your time.

Great and solid debut for miss Billie, hope the prediction increases more!

I think it's actually the opposite. You guys hid behind Billie 2 weeks ago when she supposedly talked about the vinyl thing just to drag Taylor, lol. Taylor haters were the ones that made that comment be about Taylor. Billie is just collateral damage. Poor her. But it is what it is.

anyways that's enough whacking for miss eilish, lemme stream HAMAS cause it is still a pretty good album

idk why it's being seen as taylor slighting billie for that vinyl statement, it's taylor's team wanting to maintain the #1 streak for as long as possible; they're absolutely petty for attempting to take that from an artist, yes, and i still think billie will get it in the end, but i doubt taylor swift herself said "ship the vinyls"

billie has been extremely stable on streaming and we know she's one of the best pure sellers so i don't think it's gonna be particularly difficult to pass taylor

Agreed, and I think most posters here (hopefully) know that too; they just wanna "live for the mess 🤓" right now.

Wow I did not realize how much swifites hated Billie until this thread :toofunny3:

Billie never shaded Taylor. She criticized an industry-wide practice that's bad for the environment, which she also participates in likely due to her record label's demands. How are people still misunderstanding this?

If it makes you feel better, it's not just Billie. They hate all other female artists. Female rage or whatever.

Who actually cares because it'll still block Billie's alleged double album in it's 10th week

I don't think the problem was billie's statement. The problem was her saying that and then releasing 15 versions of the vinyl lol

You really think that's on her and not the label she's signed to

None of us hate Billie, most of us love the album it seems, me included. To me it's the best mainstream album of the year. :clap3:

Because it's hypocritical for someone who also releases tons of variants, and she literally said her statement was about the biggest artists in the world. She didn't even mention it as an industry problem or whatever... it was about, in her words: "biggest artists in the world making f*cking 40 different vinyl packages." Of course, it was addressed, if not specifically to Taylor, then to her own peers. It's not misunderstanding... Not to mention that she criticized a practice she participates in.

That's not hate, it's just a strikeback.

Only females? We have space to hate males, females and non-binaries

Why the yikes? I'm black, it's a phrase I've heard throughout my whole life and it applies here. It is what it is.

The yikes is because I'm not a fan of that phrase. "It is what it is" is a good one though

That may be the case but realistically she shouldn't have made the comment if the rollout was going to be exactly the same.

dam i hope Taylor gets backlash from this from the GP. Especially considering that this could have been a historic #1 for an album that is so explicitly and bluntly queer.

That's the same case for Taylor's team lol. And everyone here is dragging Taylor a sif she was not having a date day at the exact moment those 3 copies were released. Y'all acting like she pressed the upload button herself.

Rumblings are that Eminem is coming soon, so that's where I'm expecting them to migrate next. I have to wonder if Taylor will still try it :deadbanana4:

Wow, I really thought Billie would take it tbh. As I said earlier though, it doesn't matter to me because I love both albums and am just enjoying the new music. :ducky:

I do think it's funny though that some of you are framing this as Taylor "getting back" at Billie for her comments (which I personally believe were aimed at the industry in general—and yes, were a bit hypocritical, but I'm not getting into all that again) instead of just Taylor and her team seeing how close they would be to securing the #1 again and fighting for it.

The music industry is a business. No one is entitled to a #1 anything. People are allowed to want to be the top dog in their industry, and this goes for any mainstream artist. I don't think Taylor does this to take any personal "shots" at another artist (and I certainly don't think she's specifically focused on female artists, as she's done this to male artists as well), she does this because she wants to be on top. Is it greedy and capitalistic? Sure, but so are all of the other artists we stan. But I don't think it's nefarious, because as someone else already pointed out in this thread, back in the day you had artists actually dragging other artists publicly, and Taylor doesn't have a habit of doing that. She just wants to be on top for as long as she can, and when you are AT the top as she is these days, it's a standard business move to want to stay there.

They don't care about that. They only want the T-word to dominate everything, even if she puts out miserable music.
