Both Radical Optimism and Scarlet can be viewed as underperformances from both Dua Lipa and Doja Cat.

Career low reviews, poor streaming numbers and a significant commercial decline from their previous smash albums.

While I don't see either of them dominating the Grammys in terms of nominations next year, it's worth noting that both Dua Lipa and Doja Cat were nominated for Album of the Year for their previous eras ("Future Nostalgia" & "Planet Her"), with "Planet Her" receiving 8 Grammy nominations and "Future Nostalgia" receiving 6 in total.

If you had to predict one to get nominated in AOTY (as a obvious filler nomination), which one would it be and who has a stronger chance?

Scarlet:

Metacritic: 70

Paint The Town Red: #1 Hot 100, #1 Pop / Rhythmic Radio

Scarlet: #4 Billboard 200

Radical Optimism:

Metacritic: 72

Houdini: #11 Hot 100, #6 Pop Radio

Radical Optimism: *predicted top 3 Billboard 200

i doubt either will but i'd say more likely Doja…i think FN was nominated more on the strength of its hit singles

if ESV and age of pleasure got nominated anything could happen.

but anyways it's probably scarlet out of these two that have the better narrative for aoty, RO is giving best pop vocal

Doja for genre variety. I don't imagine they'd do another pop-filled AOTY nom list like last year and the other MPG albums from this year have a higher likelihood of getting nominated I think (Beyonce, Ariana, Taylor, it'd not even out yet but Billie feels like a shoe-in).

Plus Scarlet having 2 big hits can help carry it more than RO, which could have more single success post-album release but I doubt it.

my concept of time is so screwed over, i thought scarlet was released a year ago :coffee2:

It was released on September 22nd last year but it's eligible for the 2025 Grammys.

Dua. She's a pop girl and she already won best pop vocal album idk if FN was nominated for AOTY but she has more chance than Doja.

I just know they gonna nominate scarlet in the best pop or r&b category :rip:

Neither. In a year everyone and their mother's releasing music there will be no need for filler nominations.

Neither, but Doja is more likely. RO will get a BPVA nom, Houdini pop solo and Illusion pop dance

The Grammys won't nominate a PANNED album that BOMBED on the charts like Radical Optimism :deadbanana4:

to be considered by the Grammys you have to be either super successful or acclaimed and Dua Lipa was neither with this new album

:gaycat6:

Scarlet has a better chance definitely

tbh it's looking like:

  1. HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
  2. eternal sunshine
  3. COWBOY CARTER
  4. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT
  5. Only God Was Above Us
  6. Deeper Well
  7. random unknown album/critic darling
  8. Scarlet/Radical Optimism/upcoming Sabrina album

Dua is a Grammy fave. It wouldn’t be completely crazy if she somehow pulled out the nomination.

Scarlet would be a well deserved nomination, not a filler at all.

It`s a great album with unique vibe

But i can see Tyla is getting in before any of those two
