Jennifer never pretended it was her vocal otherwise and Jenny Karr was a credited vocalist on the song. It's silly people are trying to pretend like they found out the second coming of Christ when it comes to Jennifer using background vocalists to sing choruses on some songs. This while plenty of other artists during that time did the same, also the vocals are so distinctive in the song that people are silly pretending otherwise and acting like it's a new found "scoop". One with ears can clearly tell them apart. 

 

Even during J.Lo's Let's Get Loud DVD concert special she only performs the parts that she does in the song:

A classic!  Definitely one of the best debuts of a major pop artist. The turn of the millenium were truly special times.

I remember the story where If You Had My Love was pitched to Michael Jackson by Darkchild when Jennifer had recorded it already, but she still had no music out and it was about to be sent to the radio 2 months later as the debut single to her album On The 6.
 

Michael Jackson really gravitated towards the song, but he thought it shouldn't be sing by himself but indeed by Jen and that it's gonna be a hit. Well, he was right!

I rediscovered this song lately. It aged amazingly.
