This is absolutely ridiculous.

 

The only people they are hurting is Israel and their entry. I would not be shocked if people purposely ignore/skip voting for Israel (which has a good song/entry) because of the political agenda Eurovision is presenting and how hypocritical they are being. There really is no reason to ban Belarus and Russia yet allow Israel to participate. There is no reason to be so openly supporting genocide and allowing Israel to get such a free pass.

 

Literally the easiest thing to do would've been to ban Israel from this competition, but because it's minorities who are getting murdered in the genocide Eurovision is turning a blind eye.

It's been prohibited for a while to enter the arena with flags from non-particapating countries. Here's the list from last year:

 

I can see the logic behind this. It's a musical contest, after all, for the European community.

It literally says so even in the article too and the rule makes sense. I still think the EBU doesn't handle the situation well overall, but this headline is unnecessary clickbait.

Eurovision and its organisers are hypocrites but I can't help and be annoyed when the attacks against Eurovision come from people who have no idea how the contest functions and are borne out of misinformation, for a lack of a better term?  I'm pro-Palestine as they come but this rule has been set in stone since 2016 from what I can remember. I believe in recent years they've outlawed the Catalonian flag.

 

These are the banned flags from 2016 when the contest was again held in Sweden.

 

 

So it is kinda disingenuous to frame this as something done specifically with Palestine in mind. It seems that only the flags of the participating nations (which unfortunately includes Isnotreall) + the LGBTQ+ flag are permissible. If I show up at the venue with a Slovak or Bulgarian or Hungarian flag, they would be disqualified because these three nations are not participating.

Ridiculous to downgrade this to non-participant flags are not allowed. Turkey has not been pariticipating for a decade and I see our flag all the time.

Oh it very much is misleading and manipulative. This has been a policy for how many years now? Being presented as though this rule was put in place specifically for this event is misinformation since this rule applies for every country that is not competing and it has been a rule for a while now. I'm not a big fan of Israel being allowed to compete and truly - **** Netanyahu - but spreading lies and misinformation isn't okay either. 

They can ban flags but they can't ban voices of people in the audience or the contestans who, best believe, will make a statement during their performances at the grand final (if not at the semi finals)

They were also banned in Israel when it hosted the Eurovision and they managed to sneak them in anyway so 

They should've had the balls to remove Israel from the show like the did Russia.

 

The only thing i get from this is they are against a country invading other and starting a war, but a genocide is okay. 

 

The double standards between Russia and Israel are nothing short of appalling to me. 

As they should. Palestine doesn't even air the show or compete in Eurovision.
