Dear Reader Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I just finished my first listen and it's a lot to take in. I loved it. My top 3 is: Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? I Can Do It With a Broken Heart The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived Florida!!! was the track that surprised me the most in a positive way! I just have to laugh at the first pages though. It's always the same users I need to take a lot in though, I need to listen to it with the lyrics. 4

But yes the album is nice sonically overall and most importantly, lyrically. Tay doesn't need crazy production for her songs to really stand out imo.

I'm still mad at did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room and every single one of your friends was makin' fun of you but fifteen seconds later thеy were clapping too? like *****?? the song is good imo other than that one line but that one line brings it down a lot.
Dr. Alexander Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Florence really brought some color to this album by herself alone. She saved "Florida". 1

So they didn't sound like that initially. TTPD could've been her best album if she made it at a different time where she wasn't so obsessed with this soundscape, cuz the lyrics are genuinely her best ever. TTPD is better than MID at least. 2
Hexchromatica Posted April 17 Posted April 17 2 minutes ago, Jaguarqueef said: !!! This is the worst album of hers. Just because it's a heartbreak album doesn't mean the album needs to be so monotone. There's a plethora of emotions one feels in heartbreak: anger, resentment, depression, spitefulness, euphoria, Deja Vu, etc. Monotone is the best word to describe the album 1 1 2

If the albatross isn't as good as this song I'm gonna be mad. It has the lyric that captivated me the most: Spoiler six weeks of breathing clean air i still miss the smoke were you making fun of me with some esoteric joke now i want to sell my house and set fire to all my clothes and hire a priest to come and exercise my demons even if i die screaming

TOKYO. Posted April 17 Posted April 17 She should have worked with Dan *****… this album sounds the same as Midnights the vault tracks. Burn that synth and those echoy weird choruses… and monotone vocals 2 1
GoatGly Posted April 17 Posted April 17 This was by far my favorite first time listening experience with a Taylor album. Cathartic and refreshing. I don't think it sounds like Midnights after track six at all. 3
Thor Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I'm sorry but she keeps making the same album. This is literally Midnights 2.0 She really should've taken her time with this record and waited a lil longer before releasing this and also should've worked with some new producers. Jack Antonoff is ruining her music but I guess she doesn't care anymore cuz she's still super successful. But yeah, she desperately needs to change her sound. All of her albums post Folklore have been so beyond lackluster, it's quite sad. 3/10 1 2

It doesn't sound like any of the tracks you've mentioned, so lower your expectations a bit.

Dear Reader Posted April 17 Posted April 17 It's not surprising the initial reaction is some backlash. As soon as this does numbers, some of you will switch. It was exactly the same on the Midnights thread. Anyway, I'm so blessed to just have listened to new 17 Taylor tracks. I can't wait to listen to the other 3 4
PoisonedIvy Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I hate reading album threads during leaks, it's like all the losers with negative opinions come out of the woodworks and whine as loud as they can before the official release when people who can -actually- discern musical growth begin sharing their opinions 9 2 1
Glam Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I don't want to listen to the leaks but can anyone tell me which of her albums is the closest sonically to this?
Holiest Dreams Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I refuse to take anyone who thinks this sounds like Midnights seriously. I just absolutely REFUSE. 6
