lots of people let down? So that's why it increases?

I was expecting 200k even with all the backlash.

its low key not good if she can’t pass that mark and maybe a sign she’s ran her course.

She's only surpassed 200k twice out of 6 albums tho :juanny: her course was spring 2018 to spring 2019?

the album is as mid as its sales, solid but not spectacular. glad she's improving, selling less than nicki would've been tragic.

You would think after taking a break there would be some more demand. I thought she would easily cross 200k

i like most Ari music, I’m not trying to drag. I really thought she would sell more and she very well might. I hope she does.

It’s obviously doing more than 200k at this point

I’m not that invested to track what it might sell. I was going off the thread title. I’m glad to hear it will, I like the album.

Run her course? She had a #1 song, possible another and another #1 album.  She's also seven albums in.

What a odd comment.

Seems like HDD is sticking with 165k-185k. Their updated article today has the same range

Quote

Republic's Ariana Grande will debut at #1 on this week's HITS Top 50 as eternal sunshine heads toward a 165k-185k opening, which would be the biggest of 2024.

This sets up eternal sunshine to meet or exceed the first-week activity of Grande’s previous album, Positions, which opened with 174k in 2020. On Saturday morning (3/9), Spotify confirmed that eternal sunshine, released on 3/8, had earned the most single-day streams for an album on its opening day in 2024 thus far. Grande's set will also give House Lipman a third consecutive week at #1. Monte plans to celebrate with a trip to Montauk.

Republic upped the ante Sunday with the release of a deluxe edition that includes four additional songs: “supernatural” f/Troye Sivan, “imperfect for you” (acoustic), “true story” and the previously released “yes, and?” f/Mariah Carey. Ari capped off the day with an appearance on the Oscars.

Meanwhile, the single "we can't be friends (wait for your love)" is sitting at #1 on the Spotify Global chart as of Monday (3/11).

Ye & Ty Dolla $ign's Vultures 2, originally slated to arrive on 3/8, has become something of a wild card; judging by the sloppy rollout of Vultures 1, who knows when part two might drop?

Stay tuned for projections later in the week for new titles by Epic's Judas Priest and Dirty Hit's Bleachers.

Ariana Grande (Republic): 165k-185k

Still hoping it can reach 200k

I wouldn't read too much into it..looks like they just updated the article to include new version + wcbf reaching #1. I expect a proper update to come today though (12th)

She's more talented than Taylor though so hopefully that will help them sleep

NOT THE DOWNVOTES :rip: Ariana can outsing Taylor by a mile at her worst. Truth hurts.

OT: I think it's good but I remember the horror when the initial predictions for 'Positions' were around 220k or 230k and people were expecting it to increase, but it ended up decreasing with every update till it ended up selling around 170k :rip: Perhaps it will increase but I'm keeping myself pessimistic.

All the fans here denying the existence of the hate train??? I'm a fan myself but almost all of my friends don't like her anymore, and we are essentially her demographic. I've seen so many reels and TikToks dragging her, and they have raked over 100,000 likes each. Even the comments of many posts related to Ari are saturated with negative comments. :rip: I am not saying that the hate train has some legitimate influence on her commercial performance, but there is definitely a present wave of media backlash against her.

the haters are the ones saying there's no hate train as a way to downplay her numbers.

Rihanna's first week sales in the 2010s:

- Loud 207k

- Talk That Talk 198k

- Unapologetic 238k

- Anti 166k

Did Rihanna run her course too?
