Not bad at all, but I think it would’ve been a lot higher with a different lead single. It didn’t do her any favors in the US, unfortunately.

No one has to act like this album is good; it is good, unlike the last few albums released by the woman in your avi

because even with her crazy numbers, she's producing unknown "no.1" songs like look at that song sitting at no.3 overall radio :rip:

their fave is tripling/quadrupling 1989 numbers but just can't match 1989's genuine/organic reach and impact outside the stan bubble

O.T - Ari isnt slaying but she's proven that she can still pull numbers :clap3:

an unknown song bigger than a so called hit :ahh: pick a battle

OT: overall decent numbers, but given the length of each track (except the interludes), not so much

Objectively false. Witness and Smile were panned flops. Stop worrying about critics and the GP and worry about heading down to your local employment office and get a JOB because you have been yapping all morning long.

To the people saying these are bad...

What other girl besides Taylor (and probably Beyonce) will do more than this first day this year? :rip:

GUTS depended more on the US, 50% of its streams came from that country. Streams outside the US:

ES: 38M
GUTS: 30M

:coffee2:

That doesn’t change what was written. You need to stop thinking that having most of your streams coming from the US is the drag you think it is, especially when both artists are americans and it’s their domestic and main market. You do this to Olivia, SZA, etc

I can see the point of focusing on global for Dua, although i’m 100% positive you would sing a different tune if she weren’t bombing in the US right now while sitting in the top 10 in US overall radio (higher than Olivia btw). Back in FN was how she was above other british female pop singers like Mabel or Rita for breaking in the US market with multiple songs, now we’re US-centric lol

Not bad for a debut day, only Taylor, Olivia, Adele and SZA have debuted more.

BUT not good for her standards. She is Ariana so we expected more.

ariana, taylor, billie and olivia are the only female artists who can pull 50m+ debut so yes, it’s impressive, get a life ***.

That’s why it is underwhelming, for someone as Ariana, it should have been better than Guts.

It’s over just 100k away from Positions so it’s not that impressive that y’all trying to make it lol

She performed on par with her last album despite not having a monster hit, she’s doing quite well on Apple Music; ATRL was circlejerking for weeks saying she would bomb and face plant and that she was forgotten. Now that it hasn’t panned out that way you’re trying to spin nearly 60 million streams (about double what Miley Cyrus debuted with last year having the biggest song of the year on that album) for the first day as some kind of horrible performance. She’s clearly still got a lot of pull compared to her peers; not everyone needs to do be doing Taylor level numbers. To suggest otherwise isn’t being realistic

It's not just Ari who triggers them.

It's cause Ariana doesn't care that Taylor exists in the same way half of them pretend to like Lana or HAIM or Selena's music by proxy. Anyone who shoves themselves into Taylor's universe they force themselves to like as an extension of Taylor and then they hate anyone who doesn't grovel over Taylor's existence.  it's embedded so deeply into their culture as a "stan" population that you can go to really any pop forum, whether it be here or Pulse or PJ, and people are talking about the uncomfortable level of vitriol many of Taylor's fans have for Ariana who herself has literally only interacted with Taylor (positively!) once in 10 years.

Could've been better? Yes. Is she flopping? Hell no. She's doing good, can't be compared to taylor because the last one has released i don't know how many album in last 4 years which boost her spotify appeal, has a favorable narrative and  america has elected her as their queen

We should ban every Taylor’s fans from this forum because they truly are the pits. We can’t even enjoy a release because they’re always comparing the numbers from their safe fav… stop it. Those are great numbers.
