CroNich Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Yeah I think at this point its safe to say the only thing we can really be annoyed with her with is starting to tease the era too early 2

CroNich Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I'm still so confused as to why she made that private instagram account… like I thought the whole idea was that she would be teasing recordings and studio sessions in there but even that's been scrapped. 2

CroNich Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) So it seems like if anything was scrapped or redone its been to make more bangers. Perhaps the original concept for the album was more spiritual (based on that Freedom snippet and all the mother nature references). I'm here for bangers but I'll be sad if we never get to hear the original intended body of work. Edited May 28 by CroNich 1

I hope the only thing that was changed was that she added more to the existing album for a deluxe edition 😭 Like the original album + the new bangers mix it together and delegate some of the lesser songs from the original album to deluxe tracks. This is IF anything was changed or scrapped 1

This is IF anything was changed or scrapped Agree 100%, because I am still here for a freedom/spiritual/mother nature-esque themed album, perhaps yeah she decided she needed to add more pop bangers, rather than scrapping what she already had. Y'all remember when Ride or Die said the title was 'Freedom', but didn't elaborate whether that was the album title, single title or just a song title. I wonder what happened to that? 1

I think it's the opposite, insiders claimed she was making bops at first but she recently teased Cathedral & this person worked on Happy and Too Far Gone so in her sense "bangers" is just "songs" 1 1
concubine Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) So confirmation that she's still recording after all.. after holding cardboard signs for paparazzi months ago - that's crazy. 3 hours ago, keshasfillers said: Iin her sense "bangers" is just "songs" Happy and Too Far Gone are amazing but not even her own fans are describing those songs 'bangers', unless this new song is totally different? But looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyler_Stonestreet suggests otherwise. Unless calling a mid-tempo piano ballad a 'banger' is some strange millennial quirk - again.. I keep noticing this weird, setting fan expectations to an unachievable level thing she keeps doing lately and I wish she would just stay silent altogether unless she has anything real to share. It's not only unnecessary but it hurts her, that's why the Gag Order rollout was so perfect. I know this album will be amazing though. Edited May 28 by concubine 3
gettsleazy Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) I'll be disappointed if she changed directions and the album doesn't end up being a spiritual successor to Animal, but will always support her art and output regardless. It would be incredible to see her cement her legacy as one of the greatest pop songwriters of the century with one more balls-to-the-wall effort. Edited May 28 by gettsleazy 2 1

This reminding me of how High Road was marketed as a successor to Animal and a return to form.. yeah it's a wrap. 3

Like truly what is your goal in this thread? It is evident you hate her and her output and are not here to engage in meaningful discussion. I think the new Katy Perry Kidz Bop thread might be more your speed. 1 4 1 1

"balls to the wall" I didn't know High Road had shooters like this, I remember all the fans agreeing that it was poorly marketed not a successor to Animal at all. I was agreeing with you girl, whew let me retract my opinions. Edited May 28 by concubine 1

Or maybe she understands that pop music is dynamic and a cute mid-tempo can still very much be a bop, and that an album full on high-energy, all system go pop bangers lazily sampling 2000s edm songs is one-dimensional and unoriginal. She has said multiple times she is making pop music, her whole bloody ted talk was about how pop music has saved her life, and that she is making music to dance to. There is no reason for her to scrap a more commercial friendly, pop album that has been universally requested by fans and gp alike for another moody, alternative, anti-pop record, as solid as that would be. 3

I don't think she's ever admitted it to it being hobbled together but it came out almost half of it were rainbow scraps, and I think she has mentioned she was in a very confusing place mentally and artistically. Not to mention a track was added the day of the release . I think in hindsight, pressure from the label to create a more fun commercial friendly album likely played a factor to, even though that's not where she was emotionally. 2

Yeah, there were a lot of context clues from her & her collaborators plus a ton of insider tea that it was basically comprised half Rainbow scraps, some new songs, and some unfinished demos from 2017-2019. Regardless it's her laziest effort and I'm so shocked it was marketed so forthright as a pop record when it's full of midtempos and ballads. Such a dissapointment and the only true stain on her discography (even though it has some of her best songs -- Resentment, Cowboy Blues, FDD, Kinky) 1
