KatyPrismSpirit Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Wow these songs are immaculate. It has this sadness to it with this one. Amazing song and literally demolishes BMS 1

Im so glad i digested feedback from other platforms while atrl was down and the reception was infinitely positive. I dont know if its the i-hate-anything-not-by-my-fave mentality or the impulse to have an extreme reaction or a superiority complex, but it’s a shame that for bona fide music forum, you can’t gauge the reception/quality of a song here, always tainted. This is def my preferred of the two tracks. I’ll need more time to deconstruct the lyrics though. Mama got a whole lot of her chest. Matthew wont ever stop catching cases it seems 7
aaron511 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I wish she rap-sung a bit less on it but overall a great effort. I can see it growing on me
Apolonio ₃₄ Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Why ain’t this on Spotify yet? C’mon girl let’s go.
GreatestLoveofAll Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I didnt expect such a emotional kinda song from Bey after Renny. im impressed lyrically and the production in the second half is epic. Texas hold em might be the one that charts the highest and gets the promo (Spotify is basically hiding 16 carriages) but this is the one i might come back to the most.

thatsmydemi Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) This is amazing. Edit: I want her to sing more and "rap" less though. Edited February 12 by thatsmydemi 1
EarStyle Posted February 12 Posted February 12 This is one of the best of her career. Lyrically, production, vocal arrangement. The emotion. This is just too damn good. 5
qurl Posted February 12 Posted February 12 when break my soul dropped wasn’t it released as a single on the placeholder “act i” album ??? i kinda wish she did that just so i can have one uniform album when i eventually preorder it and have everything be together
SapphireSky Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Haven't listened to it yet but I absolutely love the cover. She looks beautiful
Coldpurry Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Do we all agree this is the superior song? I'm gagged at this music 2

Lovett Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Both hooked me immediately, but there's something extra special in this one. It's gorgeous. 2
Vermillion Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Scanning social media, this instant sensitivity to any remote suggestion that this doesn’t scan as country, and not even necessarily from gray haired execs within country but just some of the general public, with instant accusations of racism, is really transparent and not productive. I doubt B herself would want that either. Neither Nashville labels nor the hive on social media gets to define what country is at this point but the conversation is allowed to be had. If anything Bey probably wants that conversation. For the record there’s plenty of black country artists that the same people saying this song doesn’t scan as country would call country, including their latest records.
QueenBLadyG Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) I'm going to need Spotify to stop sabotaging this masterpiece, and figure out why it's staying hidden - unless you add it to your 'liked' tracks. This song should be on Hot Country as well. Edited February 12 by QueenBLadyG 1 1
CaptainMusic Posted February 12 Posted February 12 This is really good, hopefully the rest of the album is like this. 4.01 on RateYourMusic, the taste This project is pretty risky though because: 1. I doubt urban and rhythmic will touch these songs 2. Country is a very local genre so the album will probably underperform globally But oh well, she has nothing to prove at this point. It’s impressive that she’s still stretching herself as an artist and experimenting with a new sound.
