It's more like cancel culture made him 100x more popular. And a lot of people didn't think he deserved to have his career end for making an ignorant mistake so start supporting him in retaliation to cancel culture. No one is supporting him just because he said the N word. It's the reaction that made him some metaphorical martyr that people rallied behind. I wish people understood cancel culture is stupid. There is no benefit to spamming someone all over the internet and making them 100x more popular than they were. You may think its "negative" attention at first, but attention is attention and now they're a well known name. Edited January 15 by Gaia 2

Trust me, I live in the south and these rebel flag waving inbreds got more aroused for him when he said the N word than they ever have any of their sisters, cousins or mothers. It’s anecdotal, but I’ve heard several people say they thought he was another “sissy” country music guy until he said that word and made that them fans. Conservatives are supporting him just for that reason. He should have been canceled for using that word, it’s not a “mistake” he probably says it all the time when there aren’t cameras around, that one just happened to catch him. And conservatives are far worse with cancel culture. A beer can and yeti coolers sent them into orbit around Pluto. 3

Well he wasn’t cancelled and the attempt gave him a bigger career than 95% of other country artists. So job well done? I wish people understood you’d be happier if you stopped trying to control everyone. Not everyone agrees with your values, so when you try and force them on other people they retaliate by going extremist in the opposite direction. 2 2

Woohoo is right in saying that the conservatives are worse when it comes to cancel culture. Dixie Chicks were at the height of their popularity and success until their lead singer Natalie Maines uttered “We’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas” during a concert in London. With that, the conservatives organized protests and boycotts against them. Country music stations immediately banned their music and one even rented a 33,000-pound bulldozer to crush the Dixie Chicks' compact discs and merchandise. The group received death threats tour dates were cancelled. All this happened in 2003. years or decades before "cancel culture" even became a catchphrase! 1 1
PoisonPill Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I guess we’re still hashing this out this 3 years later… Yes he got caught calling his friend the n-word on video. Not acceptable. The reality is that the huge surge in support for him didn’t come because he got caught saying the n-word. It came from the perception that the music industry and the press were trying to end his career as punishment (radio ban, pulled from streaming). People, especially country music fans, love to revolt against “the man” telling them what they can’t do. So stanning Morgan is like giving a big FU to the media and the corporate music executives. 2
