I didn't set a goalpost - I asked a question because I, as an American, have never heard a BTS solo. 
 

But if you want me to discredit BTS and their payola-fueled singles:

- The first famous K-pop collaboration was BoA Kwon with Britney Spears.

- Rain came next with his tour back in 2006 and his collabs with top stars at the time like JoJo and P. Diddy.

- Girls' Generation gave us the first viral K-pop song in the U.S. and gave us the viral "gg" moment from World of Warcraft.

- Wonder Girls became the first K-pop group to chart on the Hot 100 and people were well aware of their brand due to Nickelodeon and Jonas Brothers.

- Psy got the first (and so far only organic) hit in the U.S. with Gangnam Style, which is not even close to being surpassed here.

BTS's company loves to erase history and then claim that flop, payola'd hits like Who and Seven created K-pop here  Like Jimin and Jungkook (?) have all of the streaming farms in the world but still can't get a hit half the size of APT, yet HYBE wants to talk all of the credit for APT.

I get Babymonster and Badvillain confused. Both useless names / groups for BP clones. We don't actually need another BP because we already had BP, you know? Even when you look at groups that are similar, like SNSD and Twice, there are enough notable differences that the groups feel disparate, and importantly, both produced quality. These new BP clones are giving us music that's not worthy of a BP b-side. Undecided on whether Meovv fits into this category, too. In contrast, at least XG are trying new things.
