C-Amber Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) It looks like The Weeknd will be back to his favourite #1 place on Spotify, while Taylor lost ~700K in the last 3 days, and Abel gained ~500K. Spoiler December 30: #1. Taylor Swift — 110,222,712 (-476,633) #2. The Weeknd — 110,151,889 (+154,975) December 28: #1. Taylor Swift — 111,056,233 (-116,892) #2. The Weeknd — 109,888,354 (+198,538) December 27: #1. Taylor Swift — 111,229,612 (+116,892) #2. The Weeknd — 109,689,816 (+237,507) December 24: #1. Taylor Swift — 109,657,168 (+193,038) #2. The Weeknd — 109,141,909 (+ 224,490) What's going on? Taylor has released 2 albums on the past 2 years while been on public eyes and attention all the time, but the weeknd only released one album in early 2022 and some collaborations, and his show the Idol was hated so much that people wanted to cancel him, but he's slowly will get back to #1 and dethrone the #1 artist in the world right now? EDIT! to those who saying it's playlisting: Current Playlists: Taylor Swift: 55.8K The Weeknd: 89.8K Total current playlists reach: Taylor Swift: 762M The Weeknd: 746M From songstats.com Edited December 30, 2023 by C-Amber 5 1 1 11
Johnny Jacobs Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) The idol showed that he is pretty much nasty and into some weird ****. Nothing worth canceling tbh. The gp doesn't care when they stream his music. Of course he's still successful Edited December 30, 2023 by Johnny Jacobs
St. Charles Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Is this overall streams or monthly listeners?
Klein Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 And how is he doing in daily streams? Do the listeners just play him because he's in every playlists or are they willingly diving into his catalogue? 1

Popular Post By the Water Posted December 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2023 Further proof that monthly listeners mean nothing 16 3
Kill Me Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 If we go by monthly listeners bullshit Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey will turn out to be the most relevant artists of 2023. If the listeners don't turn into actual streams, it's useless. It's all depended on playlisting anyways. 5
americanlife Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 It’s because people are streaming The Weeknd’s singles and one off tracks, whereas people are streaming Taylor’s full length projects or playing physical copies. 5
EtherealCat Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 luckily for him nobody watched the idol
tomo Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Dethrone in.. playlisting? https://charts.spotify.com/charts/view/artist-global-daily/2023-12-29 #1 Taylor Swift 80M+ #2 Bad Bunny 50M+ #3 Drake 40M+ #4 The Weeknd 40M+ Why isn't he getting the same amount streams in return with the same amount of listeners reached? Bad investment? Edited December 30, 2023 by tomo 10 2
BtDecember Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 It’s so funny that suddenly ATRLers are invested to Spotify Monthly Listeners as if it is a sole metric that measures an artist’s popularity. Yeah because at the end of the year, Spotify crowns the highest number of listeners, not the artist with the highest total of streams received during the year 1

This, ATRLers tend to forget that Taylor's music is also highly consumed in other platforms. A significant portion of her huge fanbase is listening to their PURCHASED copies (me included), and if you play her songs in those copies, they do NOT get added to the total streams. 1

Other then his greatest hits that are still Charting everywhere (Blinding Light, Die For you...etc) here are his daily numbers of some of his songs One Of The Girls (3.6M) Popular (2.4M) Creeping (1.6M) Stargirl Interlude (1.4M) The Hills (1.2M) Reminder (1M) I Was Never There (922K) Is There Someone Else? (910K) After Hours (800M) He jas 26 songs that's doing at least 500K daily streams.
The Music Industry Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Monthly listeners is all in all a pretty irrelevant statistics, mostly reliant on your playlist reach. We've been saying it forever. Playlist reach The Weeknd: 1.41B Taylor Swift: 1.16B 5
Taylena Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 20 minutes ago, Juanny said: Taylor and the Weeknd have a similar number of unique people listening, but Taylor’s unique listeners are streaming her doubly as much on average. Yeah, Taylor's streams are from people that fully intended to stream her music, while The Weeknd has people casually finding his songs on playlists but they rarely listen to him again, which explains why Taylor is doubling his streams. 2

Bad investment? Tbh It shows Taylor have great fandom that will constantly stream her music, while Able will have more casual listeners enjoying music in general, because he's getting those numbers without any new album. Both great. 44 minutes ago, BtDecember said: It’s so funny that suddenly ATRLers are invested to Spotify Monthly Listeners as if it is a sole metric that measures an artist’s popularity. It's literally showing how many accounts streaming X artists, which is great info. 1 1
