Both ladies got multiple weeks at #1 this year. I fail to see how this is anything but a win for everyone involved. No idea why the urge to pit women against each other is still so strong on this site that y’all will resort to comparing two songs literally released decades ago by women who could be your grandmothers.  Just congratulate them and move on.

I wonder if Mariah is going to go all extreme on the memes next November 1st or will she cool it down a bit?  Great to see both ladies hit #1 regardless.  Sad to see Kelly still not make it.  Really all about luck.  Cuz if Jack wasn't so strong he would've fallen out of the Top 10.  But there are a couple Xmas songs Kelly needs to surpass either way to get there.

it already is.   There's just 10 or 11 songs that are more popular, which is actually amazing considering the sheer number of actual classic xmas songs.

RATCT had 2 videos released before 2023 by "Christmas Music", NOT Brenda Lee, though they counted toward RATCT, a lyric video in 2017 followed by a cartoon clip in 2019. In November Brenda Lee finally issued HER official RATCT music video & "Little Miss Dynamite" version 2 weeks ago. I don't think her Christmas At The Opry performance counts as a separate video since it credits NBC instead of Lee So RATCT has 4. BUT Lee only released 2 of those herself. The others were released by "Christmas Music" which did the same with many older Christmas songs. So you are correct in that Lee only released 2 but RATCT has 4 clips. 

 

@spree The older songs keep hogging the airplay even though the newer songs have more consumption. Cher is a perfect example this year as well. Yes UTT & STM had more sales & streaming than many songs above it. But stations want to play what's decades old & familiar with listeners, even if they're streamed & bought less.

Don't panic, Mariah will get at least 2 weeks at #1 every year. In fact some Christmas competition is better for Mimi because if Billboard sees the same Christmas song getting 5 weeks at #1 every year they will change the rules soon. But if they see multiple classics going #1 or reaching new peaks (like Santa Baby going top 20 this year for the first time) they won't change the rules because there is at least some movements.
