How is this possible? No shade, genuinely curious. Mariah is above Brenda in all other metrics except for Spotify. Surely, the gap must be closer between them than what TTOC is assuming?

Radio has been carrying Mariah for the last two weeks. When Christmas is over radio drops xmas songs so she loses that advantage overnight basically. Plus she was selling physical singles at her concerts which boosted her the last 2 weeks.

Because radio fell hard for all the Christmas songs this week and the streams are the strongest metric for the current week (Brenda has been #1 on overall streaming songs the whole season so far)

Okay, I see. But Mariah is still charting and getting a much higher streaming from YouTube, Apple Music, and Amazon than Brenda is. Brenda is either charting lower or out of some of these charts. Mariah is also #6 on iTunes at the moment, while Brenda is #21.

I’ve noticed that Brenda has different versions of this song. At least in Spotify they are not counted as one song, maybe it’s also true for the other platforms? Idk she was almost 2 million streams above Mariah on Spotify, so the gap had to be closed elsewhere

Looks like Brenda will launch 2024 at the top ! Extremely organic also seeing as she was by far the less playlisted song, by far the less radio supported song, had no physical singles on sale ( her physicals were for the album of the same name)  versus Mariah who had signed vinyl and CD available,  and 2 videos, versus Mariah's 5. Just organic demand and GP interest, whereas Mariahs two weeks were fuelled by stan activity and radio.
