What I said in my post you responded to was I saw much more people rooting for Brenda. I even saw a lot of people saying things like they like Mimi’s song too but are excited for a new holiday #1 to switch things up. And I saw people excited for Brenda and excited to also see Mariah take back the #1 in later weeks. It’s what I saw more of on my socials, so I don’t know how you can say “Nah”, unless you see the exact same things I do. Yes, the Mimi haters are silent now, but a lot of the conversation of a new #1 of a 76 year old women topping the charts after many years of release and many weeks at #2 is over with now. That’s a big piece of why the thread is more silent now too, not just because people like to shade Mimi.

Most of the comments aren’t even bad, and it’s definitely not full of people saying the phrases you quoted, those are just the harsher comments… bfr

There are three separate quotes alone saying "the evil is defeated."

First of all, they call Mariah just a Christmas lady and AIW the jingle. That has happened for several years.

 

So, if they really think that's the case, why did they even bother to care so much about past couple of weeks' charts, with pages of comments delighting in Mariah being #2.

 

And then there are people who claimed to care for  WW stats only and act like US is nothing, BUT soon as Mariah dropped to #2 (while stomping on everyone with WW stats), they ...

 

And now it's crickets for them again. Hmm ...

 

I'm fine with Brenda or anyone getting #1. Of course I want Mariah to be #1 too, but now I just want her to release her secret rock album.

I never said that Mimi didn’t receive any hate, it’s just not the only thing people talked about in the past weeks. I stated that Brenda going #1 had a lot of hype and was a huge part of the conversation. That’s a big chunk as to why the thread discussion died down this week. Crazy that you think every comment is directly aimed at Mimi. The delusion of it all  

 

So happy there is 2 queens of Christmas this year

Mariah fans have been the ones creating the gif of her beating Brenda's head with a baseball bat repeatedly into a coffin yearly everytime Lee came close to reaching #1 but failed. I say this as a Carey fan. But her fans can't take the high road of "never downtalking other artists" & others who like them at Christmas, especially Brenda Lee. So if some people shaded Carey the last few weeks, then they probably did so after years of harassment from the lambs who assumed Carey would never cede #1.

 

OT Carey's O Holy Night should be #1 all season long every Christmas season, not AIWFCIY or anything else.

Lambs never cared about Brenda until a large portion of stan twitter and atrl started using her as a way to drag Mariah's Christmas success/Lambs in the last 3 years or so. There are prominent users here who have gone to the lengths of pretending to stan Mariah then spamming the base and now sporting Brenda avis after two years of trolling threads. Even the Brenda Lee Charts twitter account used to be a Mariah hate account that spammed edited obese pictures of her. To think Lambs weren't going to clap back when these attempts backfired is laughable.

Radio barely impacts the charts at Christmas. Look at When We Were Young. Streaming dominates over airplay & sales this time of year.

Underneath The Tree and Santa Tell Me should make it to the Hot 100 top 10 eventually. However, as a person who prefers Kelly, I would hope that UTT would become the 1st Xmas song from the 2010s to make it to the top 10, and, for a short while at least, be the youngest Xmas song to reach the top 10. STM will eventually have the record for youngest Xmas song in the top 10 anyway. It's just a matter of how soon.
