I really don't think that Mariah cares about it, since this song has been dominating for years and becomes her forever insurance, but if she does care about losing then this year's chart run might be a good wake up call.

 

Her "It's Time" moment has gotten underwhelming this year, and she didn't milk this song this year like she used to do, she's more focusing on the tour and did only few interviews, no TV special or anything else for this year, meanwhile Brenda has been doing everything to push the song.

 

If she really wants to stay relevant every year with this song, she needs to do some pushes for it, or what's happening now may continue to happen every year.

 

She got nothing else to prove anymore, she's been in this game for almost 3 decades, I want her to enjoy her life as a mother and as a person, if losing this Christmas game can let go something for her then I would say just let it.
