stevyy Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Mariah not ranked in 1995 despite selling over 5 million albums in the country with 2 huge #1's. sure...
Enrique523 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Am i the only one shocked to see Taylor at #1 for 2013? I thought for sure it would be Miley because of the Bangerz era Taylor is also pretty much locked for female artist of the 2020s decade right? I don't see how anyone else could possibly surpass her.

Most, if not all of the sales for 'RED' counted for the 2013 Billboard year, and as big as a moment 'Bangerz' was, it still paled in comparison of how massive 'RED' turned out to be. And yeah, Taylor is pretty much guaranteed to repeat as the female artist of the decade.

The tracking year was split and Alanis was going to steamroll anyone in 1996 with Jagged Little Pill. It happens. Mariah still has years at #1

Mariah still has years at #1 she should be listed: Billboard 200: Music Box - 39 weeks in 1995 --> albeit some weeks fall after the YE split Merry Christmas - 6 weeks in 1995 Daydream - 11 weeks in 1995 --> albeit some weeks fall after the YE split Endless Love and Fantasy have had some of their weeks in 1995 as well, especially Fantasy had like all of its 8 weeks at #1 in that tracking year. Maybe Mariah 6th afterall.
alestevens Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Taylor being the only one to be the #1 female (and overall too) artist of the year in more than one decade

The most of any MPG on this list.. Impressive yes, but a lot easier to pull off for a singer who does countless features on rap singles not tied to their own albums. Especially in 2002 when urban music was at its most powerful on the charts. Edited December 5, 2023 by PoisonPill
