Final Predicts: Brenda to block Mariah from #1 (2 pts diff), tighter than Biden/Trump

According to Billboard, Brenda is closer to #1 than ever:

This year, however, the competition has gotten legitimately tight. While Carey remains the leader of the two in sales and official on-demand U.S. streams through four days of this tracking week, Lee is slightly ahead in official U.S. streams, per preliminary tracking data for next week’s charts, according to Luminate. Lee’s song is also growing in streaming at a faster rate than Carey’s — and does in fact lead it comfortably on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs USA chart.

And Last Christmas is close to #3:

Wham!, “Last Christmas” (Epic/Columbia): It’s not quite as exciting as the Mariah/Brenda showdown, but there’s also a race for No. 3 on the Holiday 100. That’s between Bobby Helms’ country-rock classic “Jingle Bell Rock,” which has been the annual No. 3 on the holiday Hot 100 since the 2019-20 season, and Wham!’s synth-pop staple “Last Christmas.” Wham! has creeped closer to the Big Three each year since singer-songwriter George Michael‘s death in 2016, hitting a new peak last year of No. 4 on the Hot 100. This year, it’s nipping at the heels of “Jingle Bell Rock” — they’re Nos. 13 and No. 12 on this week’s Hot 100, respectively — as it narrowly trails Helms’ hit in streams, and also follows in airplay, while leading it in sales, so far this tracking week.

Scary news but Brenda def profits a lot from playlists.

Mariah is increasing again on iTunes let’s hope it helps.

Last Christmas passing JBR for #3 is pretty much locked. LC was actually the #2 Christmas song, ahead of JBR and RATCT, the week before this past one. If not for Brenda’s promo, there’s a good chance that LC would have gone to #2 this holiday season.

LC should pass RATCT for #2 next year.

It will be over for both of them if Bey ever remembers she has xmas songs and promotes them

If only Brenda did some promo.

She dropped a music video a couple weeks ago, just did a livestream yesterday, has been posting on tiktok, and she has a television special on NBC December 7th which will then go onto Peacock Streaming. She’s working it this year finally!

Mariah better get it then Brenda can take it the next week. Then I also hope for a new peak for Last Christmas, and for Underneath The Tree and Santa Tell Me to go top ten.

No, Brenda needs to get it this week, this is Brenda's best chance. Mariah gets stronger streams on December, so she will be #1 the rest of the month

I thought Brenda’s strongest week last year was a little later. I think she will have an even better chance next week before Mariah takes over

Her closest weeks last year were the last week of Anti-hero at #1 after thanksgiving and the last week of Christmas season when it reached #1 on streaming songs. The rest of the weeks Mariah had a bigger gap, so it's better for Brenda to reach #1 now.

Come on Brenda!! :jonny:

How is Brenda even slightly leading streaming when Mariah is dominating every non-Spotify platform?

Billboard just dropped an article on Brenda potentially going #1 on the Hot 100.

Maybe a clickbait.

Lambs are strongly buying on iTunes, it’s going up.

I don’t get how Brenda gets more streams as Mariah is in lead everywhere expect Spotify. And as far I know AM is more popular in US than Spotify? Brenda is irrelevant on AM.

With this major promotional push and an increasing public sentimentality behind the 78-year-old Lee — who, as one of the biggest pop stars of the pre-British Invasion ’60s, did top the Hot 100 twice, with 1960’s “I’m Sorry” and “I Want to Be Wanted” — this year should mark her best chance yet of returning to the top spot. If “Rockin’” doesn’t get there this week, it should be a week-to-week battle with “All I Want” throughout the holiday season — one that Lee herself recognized in a recent New York Times profile, quipping, “Now I gotta worry about Mariah… Get outta here, girl!” (She also added: “Oh, there’s room for everybody. Her song’s good, too. I love her singing.”)

Imagine being this petty for a song that has been #1 for 12 weeks and that it will obviously get more weeks at #1 this season :toofunny3:

Brenda can have it. The only thing AIWFCIY has left to do is potentially get her the longest running #1 record back, which is honestly whatever.

They need to put AIWFCIY on that big Spotify playlist. Mariah would be like 20+ points ahead if they did that

" Songs from 1950 to 1980"

So no, they don't.

Why petty? I question the “more streams for Brenda” statement, that’s all.

she can have a week no problem, but it doesn’t sum up as she is behind Mariah EVERYWHERE (Amazon, Amazon digital, iTunes, Apple Music, YouTube) expect spotify

Wow

I am DEAD at this. Like has she not been aware that Mariah has been no 1 ahead of her for the last four years ?

If Brenda gets the #1, will she have a record for longest gap between #1s? also the oldest person to hit #1?

We love a little Christmas Competition. :giraffe:
