ParisxHilton Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 If true, this is amazing. So nice not seeing Mariah at the top of the charts at the very start of the season. Maybe we’ll all have a great holiday season 1
ClashAndBurn Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Hopefully Brenda can get the W for at least one week this year and then Wham! and some others can start as well eventually. Mariah getting a guaranteed month every single year has gotten extremely stale and it'll be annoying when she dethrones Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus and permanently holds the song with the most weeks at #1 purely by default.
Virtual_Insanity Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 I mean I think people forget that Brenda did absolutely nothing for the song until this year. Because of the anniversary. She probably won't bother to do anything again next year. The only artist who actively promotes Christmas stuff has been Mariah. Maybe more will do it after this, when they see what is possible.

I am sure Mariah Carey will happily congratulate Brenda Lee Monday should these predictions hold true and Rockin Around The Christmas Tree becomes her 1st Hot 100 #1 in 6 decades. But this needs to be official 1st.
KingWitch Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) Good . Maybe Mariah will go back to realising she has a music career outside of xmas season . Edited December 3, 2023 by KingWitch 3

I don't know if Andrew Ridgeley has enough interest in trying to get Last Christmas to #1 in the US to do the needed promo. To this point the other songs are too far behind to challenge for #1.

WHERE IS THE FOLLOW UP TO CAUTION YOU BUM! 3

I meant more the newer girls like Ari and Kelly. I know those people are dead , boo.

Ari could probably get to top 5 if she went hard with signed singles and stuff. But she never even mentions it !
lonnie Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Wow Still impressive for Mariah but I didn't see this coming

Why would that be annoying exactly? Especially if that is the song holding the record currently
Støned Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Brenda getting #1 this week would be a very monumental record, while if it's Mariah, it's just another week added to her already successful song. I really hope she pulls through. I'm happy to see the OG MPG of the late 50s/early 60s on top again! 2
BnPac Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Just 2 points.... It's probably going to be Mariah on BB. Until now, from the whole acts with big Xmas classics, Mariah has been the only one promoting and she has done so consistently for more than 5 years, there were even remixes with Bieber at some point. The new generation knows it better. So on a tight race and in the heart of Xmas, I don't see it losing. However this proves that if other tried as hard as she has or even less, they have a shot.
Steve Johnson Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 I really want Last Christmas to reach #1 at some point. It's my favorite Christmas song.
QueenofCopyPaste Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) If ATRL existed at the 60's, Ms. BRENDA LEE is THEEEE MPG of that DECADE btw Edited December 3, 2023 by QueenofCopyPaste 1
Starkboy Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Spotify today 1 Brenda Lee | 2.496M (+471k) 2 Mariah Carey | 1.794M (+271k) wow Brenda is smashing huh 1 1

It wasn’t about the promoting - it was about the adjustment of playlists. Brenda has always been close thanks to the Christmas Classics playlist. This year Pandora’s exclusion of Mariah and Brenda being #1 and #2 on the playlist with 72 million listeners tipped it. Mariah’s song spent 15 years organically rising to its throne before she ever did much with it outside of a random tour performance. To imply that the song’s status was because of promoting is disingenuous.

Brenda didn't do anything before this. Also it's not just Pandora lol. See the gap on Spotify it's just getting bigger. Also Wham could take over as well if they start their campaign. The message is loud and clear : Many Christmas songs can challenge for #1 now , it's not just Mariah thing 1

If it's so easy for Xmas songs to become enormous, will we see Christmas Tree Farm stop bombing soon? 1

What makes you think if they start promoting, they won't rise? If Ariana tries she herself could improve her position on chart every year by lot.
