It's a consumption chart and that's what the public is consuming - there's already a holiday chart just like other genre charts. Your faves should get off their asses and make better music if you want them to be consumed as much as Xmas music. That tune would change if some of y'all's faves' Xmas music hadn't flopped into oblivion.

Payola?? The song was released like 65 years ago and is challenging for #1 on the Hot 100, as it has the past few years. That's called a CLASSIC SMASH, baby.

Right. And the fact that RATCT has been consistently charting higher on US Spotify this year (and a lot of last year as well) is also payola? RIGHT.

its the xmas season, be happy ffs... Mariah already got #1, why must some people be so goddamn greedy and want the same song to be #1 again...

…that’s literally what that user was talking about. Brenda only leading on Spotify and no other platforms because of the playlist.

But she's not leading on Spotify. Mariah is leading on Global Spotify. Make it make sense.

Also Mariah pushed at lot All I Want for Christmas the first year it reached #1 to celebrate the 25th anniversary in 2019 and she promotes every year. Why can't Brenda do the same to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree?  :cm: 

 

This year is probably the only year Brenda is going to push the song. Also there's room for everybody and hopefully multiple Christmas classics can reach the #1 or at least new peaks in the future.

I’m not saying like that other user it’s payola for the record - just that Brenda’s advantage on Spotify versus other platforms comes down to playlisting. Primarily the Xmas classic playlist.

I'm really rooting for Mariah but if Brenda gets it I won't be mad either. I'm surprised they're that close though since Brenda is only doing better on Spotify and Mariah gets way more airplay.

You're making zero sense. Spotify playlists are GLOBAL playlists. If Brenda's song was getting preferential playlisting treatment, why is it only outstreaming AIWFCIY in the US and not globally? The answer is the Spotify playlisting isn't having as much as an impact as you're assuming. You need to think a little more critically here.

Girl, Brenda is only ahead (or even close) on a single platform because Mariah is excluded from that major playlist. That’s still not even enough to make the difference globally where Brenda charts extremely low or is N/A on most platforms (but is still able to compete on Spotify).

You do realize you're saying that you agree that the playlisting doesn't have a such a big impact, so it's not payola. Glad you agree.
