How iconic was the December 5th 1998, Hot 100 chart?

I mean to see all those songs finally charting cause Billboard finally changed the rules to allow airplay only songs to debut.

It still feels wrong for songs like Torn to have a #47 peak cause it charted months after its peak, but at least it charted.

"Torn" is one of the best pop songs of all-time, you need to let the light in.

They should have done this change since 1994. Many classics were robbed and couldn't even chart

"Thank U" at #17

If it were the digital or streaming era it would've debuted at #1 on the Hot 100. Probably the most anticipated lead single of the 90s.

This is why charts don’t matter.

Angel in Disguise, Fly Away, Baby one more time, The Power of Goodbye, Torn, Thank u, Jumper, Have you ever, Love like this, That, Nobody's supposed to be here....talentry

So that's how the song of the summer Are you that somebody? only peaked at 21. Should have been top 5 had this change occurred in the summer.

Jumper, Have You Ever, Doo ***, and Iris :jonny5:

I wonder if people in their teens/20s back then knew classics were being made :jonny5:

And even before this rule change, only top 40 pop radio stations such as KIIS FM and Z100 counted towards the radio songs chart. It was until 1998 that all radio formats contributed to the BBH100. So many songs were robbed throughout the 90s, especially rock and r&b songs which were outselling pop artists for a good portion of the 90s.
