Yes it's a silly rule but they made it when Ed had all the Divide songs on the chart.

Excellent rule, no artist would have 3 singles released at the same time back when streaming wasn’t a thing.

Cruel Summer which it's an official single has nothing to do with 1989 (TV) album bomb.

Obvs it was becoming unfair/a problem so the UK changed things, as I said, an artist never released 3+ singles at a time before… just because the way people listen to music was different, why mess up the entire chart and destroy or make invalid what came before?
