She's pushing the Target Deluxe in her post on Instagram, she wants the biggest opening ever for her,

She don't care about the number 1 on BB100 (I mean she will be number 1 with CS anyway).

Outselling a lighting-in-a-bottle original album with a re-recorded version, years after the fact with even more reduced industry sales, without a music video or any traditional promotion in site.

Only the biggest star on earth. It's an undeniable and quantifiable fact that she is in the same conversation as The Beatles, Elvis, Madonna, Michael, etc.

Scott Borchetta must cry himself to sleep every night. GOOD.

It's not enough. I want to see him crying in public:ryan3:

Madonna.

Exactly, trying to rewrite history as if Madonna age 40 releasing Ray of Light, Music, Confessions, married with kids wasn't out doing Taylor now. She was sellinf more and producing more hits.

Why compare Taylor with Madonna? The only things they have in common are being blonde American citizens with light eyes who make pop music. Taylor has a completely different background and way of being an artist than Madonna, the first starts from country and moves on to other genres basing everything on writing and storytelling expressing the feelings of life, the other combines her talent as a performer, dancer and singer to revolutionize pop culture with revolutionary themes, choreography and images. They have different messages, different styles, different audiences and they debuted with 3 decades of difference which in the music industry is a geological era. No one will take away from Madonna the merit of being the most important pop act in the history of music, just as no one will take away from Taylor the fact that she is the most successful female artist in history and the singer-songwriter of her generation.

Exactly, both are Legends regardless :clap3:

Why are you always in these billboard threads talking about ******* Poland? We don’t give a ****!! Go make a thread about the female artists dominating your country’s charts and see who cares

So have the 250k first day sales and 1.4m prediction been discussed?

Who is lying here?

Did Billboard not include the pre-order numbers in their figure?

Did HDD get the prediction wrong?

Did Billboard lie?

The most likely scenario is that Billboard’s 250k only includes digital and physical units sold by retailers on the actual first day, and no preorders. This could be due to a change in how they report on these scenarios or due to Luminate, Billboard’s data source, having not processed preorder data yet. The next most likely scenario is that most preorders hadn’t shipped soon enough to count for Friday. HDD getting the prediction wrong by such a staggering amount (250k sales first day including preorders would imply an opening of about half their prediction or less) is completely unheard of, and would be the biggest industry prediction miss in history. The edge case scenarios are that Billboard did accidentally publish an incorrect number or that they have an unannounced change coming to how they count preorders or how they count multiple copies per consumer (and even that shouldn’t impact her this much). Based on HDD’s prediction, I think the preorder numbers we heard about before release were reliable and my bet is that Billboard just didn’t include that for whatever reason, maybe to give a more accurate report on real-time consumption.

yeah I think 1.7M is within reach if the 1M preorders figure was true.

1M preorders

maybe like 400k in first week sales (since it already did 250k in one day)

and then like 300k in streaming units or whatever

= 1.7M first week!

70 million for day 3 is crazy!! No one is doing it like her and I honestly think TS11 will shatter every record in existence lol

1989TV is on lock to outdebut the 2014 OG. I don’t think it will outdo Midnights, though. That album spent its whole first week above 80 million according to the tweet above it. She would need stronger album sales, which we are all up in the air about it and how they will be counted. But we never know with Taylor! Maybe people really bought this one more if the pre-orders rumors are true!

Why is this some big deal to people here? There's no big reason, BB just reported sales of first day, they aren't going to post pre orders or predictions, that's HDD. BB likes doing this for traffic that's all

Yes, they're mad that she didn't release signed copies so this is their revenge
