BB200: Lover has its biggest sales year 4 years after release

That’s insane. I would’ve never expected it to be one of her biggest albums. 1m units 4 years after its release and a good chunk of that is actual album sales.

Lover and Midnights smashing, her best pop albums :clap3:

That's wild. :clap3:

Lover must end this year with global sales of 5 million I think. I wonder what it sold in 2019? Less than it? Incredible. Acting like her dark side of the moon. It should make ifpi top ten unless they exclude catalog albums

Damn 1.55M in 2019 was good enough for #4 year-end but 1.6M will probably be lower top 10 for 2023

Thank you streaming era :clap3:

Thank you streaming era for showing us how much an album is being consumed indeed. :clap3:

Streaming has made album reach places where previous formats couldn't. In fact music is getting more global and reaching more people. Indeed we are seeing good results. Infact by that logic, streaming units should be counted even more

Proof that proper hit singles are the best promotion an album can get.

Agh the way her best pop album is winning is everything

Consumption metrics have been redundant these days. The same streams for Cruel Summer count for the Hot 100 and for de Billboard 200. Before the streaming era, that didn't happen.

Hey, I'm new here!

Do you think that she is bigger than Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, the Beatles etc.?

As a solo act she is bigger than any of beatles Or freddie Mercury in stats. Mj is way ahead right now. But she is generational like them. All of these artist have their impact. And tbh their legacies are secured. She is that big.

Thank you 10 versions of cruel summer

And what do we think caused the increase in streams for every other track on the album?

They might count in charts differently. But when album units and career sales are counted, they count as one album unit. Because singles are already converted into album. Like at brits award, they only said taylor has sold 114 million album units and wasn't double counting singles. So it evens out when we talk about career sales.

Well... she wouldn't occupy the entire top 10 with MID songs without redundancy.

In end her career total will be with album equivalent. So it evens out. I m also no fan of double counting for charts but it is same level field for all. She is still biggest no matter what the rules are

You're right. But do you think that her legacy is going to be huge worldwide the same as Queens, MJs etc. ? Like that in 50 years we'll have a biopic etc.?

It was 114 million in 2021. By end of year, ifpi number must be around 190 million plus. If chartmasters put her around 180 million plus.
