But I was told that Taylor is a frontloaded flop. Every release the first week sales thread would be filled with comments saying "cant wait wait to see that drop" " longevity>>>>big debuts"

So this comes as a surprise

One live version and one remix that came out a week ago and haven't contributed to the 2023 figure at all.

And how did the 2 versions released last week impact the sales of the album this year? Please, don't tell me your trolling is this low level.

I love the remix with Shawn

Dont bother with them. They're very much aware. Theyre just mad that at the beginning of the year when Flowers was smashing they got cocky and were making countless threads about Miley being supposedly bigger than Taylor. Then her album came out and all the token stans evaporated :gaycat6:

It's insane to think that Lover is actually her FOURTH biggest album after the juggernauts that are 1989, Fearless, and Midnights :clap3:

It's a shame it only spent 1 week at #1 tho :emofish:

Weren’t there 4 versions of this song charting on iTunes? Anyways concert movie and tour will help compared to previous years hope this helps the OP understand why sales are bigger this year!

Hope midnights and lovers smashery will make her continue doing music like this (and Rep pls hihi) bc while probably amazing records quality wise, folklore and evermore were absolutely not for me

Do we have a breakdown of her album units? Do we think lover might even make it to top 3?

It was actually 3 since one of them was a single version since it wasnt officially released as a standalone single.

Eitherway how does sales from a week ago affect sales of an entire year? Also the film came out just 2 weeks ago.

And the tour excuse is dumb cuz no other major artist going on tour have given their old albums their biggest year, yearsss after release.

It’s only bigger by 50k so I’d chalk that up to the tour and concert movie plus cruel summer randomly becoming a hit this year.. Not really an inconceivable notion here.

Still impressive tho so congrats!

She really put her whole "this is my last year of pop relevancy before my 30s" attitude in this

It's kind of sick she was proven wrong

5.561M units so far :clap3:

It just might cross 6M units by the end of the year :duca: if not it will be in early 2024!

Hmm.

Both 1989 and Fearless are over 10 million in the US for sure. Midnights and Lover just passed 6 million this week (they are really close) but Midnights did it much quicker (in just a year) so I give the edge to her. Lover being fourth is not too bad.

Wait, I forgot the debut. It might actually be fifth because I think the debut sold 6 million as well (might be 7 million now), but I would still put Midnights above debut since she did it faster.
