Over the year I've read some stuff about that. I remember we fans always found strange she hadn't more hot 100 hits, so someone told me Jive didn't focused on singles so she could sell more albums.

I would not know for sure if radios in the US really embraced pop, cause in 1999/00 info was limited and I had no idea what played and what not, radio streaming was bad... but from Slave I know radios refused to play her. Even a big hit like Toxic that today is her ultimate popular song, it wasn't a #1.

Now for the urban, maybe was a bit later, but you can see "In The Zone" had some more "urban" tracks and even rappers. From what I remember, Jive wanted Outrageous to be the first single and she didn't want it because it was an R Kelly produced song and at that time he already had the fame of being an abuser. Then u had "I've got that Boom Boom" that many thought was the second single and she even performed it in several occasions together with MATM.

Also on Britney they started making the urban mixes for Boys and Over.

I think from 2001 till 2009 "urban" music was in and pop was out. Maybe I am wrong, but thats how I understand, maybe u can help me.

You can check the pop radio top20s on this site: https://www.popradiotop20.com/POP/2000/ (this is for 2000)

OIDIA did well on pop radio but didnt get a full CD release, so thay they could push albums.

With Toxic it was a different thing completely. Yes it went to #1 on pop radio, but it was already in urban pop radio dominated era - those stations accounted for most of the points. So yes, while Toxic wasnt held back by the label, radio overall was more into R&B. Plus we hadnt really entered the digital download explosion that would then help revive pop like it did back in 2007.

So that means they will use the SPS for her studio albums and not her Greatest Hits. Because they didn't update the certification of the Greatest Hits: My Prerogative album

AND  I LOOOOOOOOOVE THAT FOR US.

GHMP is at 1.8M based on pure sales. With Do Somethin and My Prerogative gold (that's 50k SPS a pop), I've just begun having my fun/Boys co-ed remix/You drive me crazy remix/Overprotected remix cute lil streams (SPS)

It should hit 2x platinum with ease.

BOMT and Sometimes streams need to be applied to the parent album for that 15x platinum update and she will return as the highest certified female debut of all time but if not sharing it with Whitney (Whitney and Britney) is still great.

Oops Lucky and Stronger streams need to be applied to the parent album for that 11x platinum update.

Britney 5x platinum

In the zone Toxic and Everytime will get it to 5x platinum in the long run but it's already over 4x platinum for now. 4.3M SPS

They better get The singles collections gold. sales + 300k SPS from '3' is enough for this to go gold

FF should get ha 2x platinum when it's all said and done.

Glory is the one I'm pulling for a gold cert. It's anywhere from 450-475k SPS but that doesn't include the vinyls and other stuff. Hopefully it reaches it later this decade.

Womanizer doing 6 ALREADYYYY?? I swear i remember vividly a member on here laughing at me for saying it was a very successful and remembered hit :gaycat5:

I guess for a long time Britney was undermined and downplayed because of the fact her numbers weren't updated by her label for a long time.

They knew all those singles and albums were elegible but hide behind the "it's not official", "they're fanmade numbers" excuses to make their favorite seem look bigger.

Where's Femme Fatale, Britney Joan and Glory certifications though

FF having 4xplat, 2 2xplat and a platinum single is kind of iconic :clap3:

Blackout being 2xplatinum ughh I'm so happy, we were so tired of these "estimations"
