You mean like the double counting that exists nowadays with streaming where when you stream a song you earn "sales" for both singles and albums?

When we talk about overall equivalent, that double counting is converted into one. I m mot talking about charts but career sps. Where singles are converted into album units and there is no double counting then

It’s almost like this is how all catalogue sales are counted, hence the terminology being “400 million units” instead of “400 million albums” or “400 million singles”. It’s lifetime catalogue sales with all formats.

My point is singles are not valued on same weightage by ifpi. So 400 million records is generic term . Not actual equivalent
