Taylor Swift breaks Spotify record for biggest streaming year ever

I think this deserves its own thread outside of the Taylor streaming thread. Huge achievement:

Not only does she hold the biggest year (+month, +week, +day…) ever now, she’ll be the first woman ever to top their year-end Most Streamed Artists list. She will end the year over 28B at her current rate, which would be a good 7B more than the previous record, and could potentially hit 30B totally this year :clap3:

It likely will be broken since the numbers of Spotify users is still growing.

I think there is a high chance that she breaks it again eventually.

We’ll have 1989 TV, TS11, the tour next year and Reputation TV

She can be bigger in 2024 by the way things are going

This is insane. She's the only artist to truly adapt and dominate to the Physical, Digital, Streaming, Touring, Movies everything era.

Funny that this is the artist people call local and „Anti-Hero is her first real smash hit in 7 years“ dominates so hard on Spotify. Where are the global hitmakers ranked this year?

It's massive massive, especially considering there's 2 and a half months left still.

Of course the record will be broken in the future, but she's going to make one that will take time to beat.

Good for her. But its kinda sad that there is no other pop girl who can compete with Taylor's numbers. Pop culture is really dead.

Biggest year on Spotify along with the highest grossing tour ever, highest grossing concert movie ever, highest earning entertainer on Forbes, highest selling debut week for an album in 2023 and a potential massive award season. One of the biggest years for an artist ever.

This is where I am now (and I’m a huge Taylor fan). Love to see her winning, but I miss when there was a little competition, and when she wasn’t the sole woman succeeding on her level.

It was kinda nice those few years where Taylor and Adele were considered equally big physical sellers, Ariana was considered the dominant woman on streaming, Taylor and Beyoncé were considered pretty equal on touring, the dominant Hot 100 woman would fluctuate, Beyonce was the woman with the higher critical acclaim, etc.

I actually enjoy her music far more than the other women on the list, but it was simply more entertaining from a consumers’ standpoint when she would *usually* win, but still took some losses or second places every now and then. It humanized her a bit and kept the races interesting to watch and the victories that much sweeter

Of course it will be, we’re at the start of streaming, a lot of the world still has to catch up and numbers will be bigger each year

But huge achievement

I can see why.

Once Ariana returns she could probably come for the crown of the Hot 100 queen though. Not in streaming anymore sadly. If there's anyone pop radio will probably embrace more than Taylor, its Ariana.

Don't know why I thought I've read that she already had this record some time ago?

Maybe because she had the female record?
