I pretty sure UGC is user-generated content (like fan-uploaded videos on YouTube). And a unit is how many units of sale. For RIAA purposes, UGC isn't counted towards official units if I recall correctly.

I'm pretty sure RIAA does not count UGC, right? if that's the case, it explains why certifications updates often doesn't match the stats coming from chartdata.
