This is not to come off snobby at all (and pardon if I do) but physical CD singles have been a thing since 80s/90s and pretty much every artist has released them during their career.
 

While CDs have died out compared to vinyl, artists of today like still release CD/cassette singles along with vinyl singles to increase sales/chart placements. So it’s not something that solely Jungkook has done out of desperation (that’s probably coming later agdhhdjd), it’s standard practice for majority of mainstream artists. (So far this year we had Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Cardi B, etc. release physical singles.)

I think Seven has been pretty successful globally, Hot100 is not that relevant nowadays with many US centric singles. 
in fact, seven is arguably the most successful single related to BTS baring Dynamite. It’s going to cross 1B Spotify streams with ease with the current run rate of 6M daily.

Well, the hot 100 measures popularity in the US so I’m not sure how global charts are relevant to this. Besides, seven is like two months old and still gets 2M streams filtered everyday, which points towards mass streaming

Well the Hot 100 is a US chart but the Army insists on manipulate the Hot 100 because they know it's the most important chart of the world, even if the song has a chart run like this: 1-9-30-31-35-40-43
