Lol…ngl thought the same.

I really do think there was a combo of too many jarring changes (new sound, anti-fan narrative, scary visuals….including album cover, etc).

I think a lot of this could’ve been remedied with a promo run and some interviews explaining her choices.  But nah…we can never get that with her, lol.

Album still sounds good though…either way.  Can’t deny her that.

Lmao so people were convinced that she's over after the shenanigans with her fans, then PTTR randomly smashed and everyone took it back and now she's a flop again :rip:
It's time to admit that she probably was just lucky with PTTR and the public isn't here for her.

Is there even a list of recent debuts by *female* rap  albums to compare this too?

People keep referencing only Traumazine, but this could end up doing better numbers.

And things like this make it seem like people are being disingenuous about how well *female* *rap* albums actually do:

She knew exactly what she was doing releasing this type of album, and I don't even mean that in a shady way. I love Scarlet. She could easily serve pop hits if she wanted to. Arts not charts :clap3:

Exactly this album is amazing whether it smashes or not :clap3:

ot: She really has the ODHs riled up and brought out of the woodworks with this :superman:

I hope it has legs just to prove yall wrong :giraffe:

To be fair.. Traumazine had light promo, no smash hits, was announced the same day of release & Doja is bigger than Megan. Doja really should be clearing her with Ease

Oh, I wouldn't disagree otherwise, though I think there's a conversation about Megan building up a lane and really working it versus Doja in shakier territory being a Top 40 pop radio girl and diverting randomly to a new sound. Having tons more hits at CHR may mean nothing if CHR listeners may want nothing to do with this album.

But then the other reality is also that Megan and Doja are, at a glance, much more successful themselves than most other rap girls who aren't Cardi or Nicki. Like how much did Latto's album do first week? Coi's album missed the Top 100, no? Even Ice Spice's rerelease of her EP missed the Top 10, right?

That's why I asked what actual female rap albums have peaked where with what numbers, cause it seems like, even with the much smaller numbers, Scarlet may come out on top for releases within the last 3-4 years, and that some of this flop talk comes off as pop stans who don't like the new material being disingenuous.

Well… they don’t do well. The last legitimate female rap album to be popular with GP was IOP. Doja leans more into pop than rap in HP and PH.

The issue is female rappers really only get big rapping about their bodies, money, etc.

But then people complain their music has no depth.

AGORA SMASHA!!!

People really have zero interest in her album tracks.

Surprised at AH when everything else is dropping pretty hard. This is further proof that the demand for Doja is there but this album just isn’t connecting with the GP.

This doesn't make any sense. If there was a demand, the GP would've streamed her album the first day. Them dropping it after the first day would've meant they did not connect.

She is simply a singles artist, there is no demand.

I am so confused at this tweet considering I saw many other saying that Planet HER still holds the record ?

Why are we saying it's a flop if the album managed to snatch this record ?

It does make sense to me. Hits does not equal demand. If we look at the other stats, Scarlet tour has not sold out yet when it was announced 3 months ago despite only having 22 shows, in comparison, Olivia who has 77 shows and with bigger capacities, the tour is already 99% sold out on the pre sale alone.

Doja does not have a demand and it reflects on her album performance. She got lucky tiktok is latching on her tiktok songs

No, there IS a demand for her to make GOOD music that the GP actually wants. This is evident with PTTR rising to #1 on Spotify and AH rising in its 2nd day.  She’s dropping music her core fan base isn’t into and the GP isn’t into either. That’s why the album is dropping. PTTR and AH are the songs that sound most like pre-Scarlet Doja. The demand for her to make PH/HP style music is clearly there.

And she has literally never been an albums artist. PH’s numbers were carried by the massive hits. Anyone who follows the charts knows that.
