I really doubt that right-wing folks showed support by hurrying to buy this record. More likely, the vast majority of her fanbase, outside of twitter and ATRL/Popjustice, didn't know or wasn't that bothered by the controversy.

I think you underestimate the obsession of TERFs. I've seen lots of them buy the album on twitter just to support her pathetic views. I wouldn't be surprised if the high dame of bigots JKR herself bought like a few dozen.
