It’s hard to say. I’ve never really been called ugly (except by 2 colourist) but I’ve also never really been the prettiest in the room (and when I’ve been told I am I don’t believe it lol).

 

I feel like I’m somewhere in the middle of the pretty category. I’m above average but not a super model. I’m a dark skin Black woman so by society’s standpoint I’m in the bottom tier right next to overweight women but I would say when I go out I do get compliments maybe 60% of the time & it ranges from “very/really pretty” to “beautiful”.

 

I feel like people don’t want to admit that they find dark skin women (like with overweight women) attractive because they don’t want people making fun of them for their preferences because I’ve seen plenty of people call someone a liar or say they need to raise their standards if they prefer Black and/or overweight women as if a Black and/or overweight woman can’t be pretty. Like people automatically calling Beyoncé prettier even though Kelly objectively looks better.

 

without colourism I would say I’m an 8, but to a colourist I’m a 6. My looks are closer to Coco Jones & Ryan Destiny (I think Ryan Destiny is far prettier than me tho).

Purely looks wise? 6 on a bad day, 8 on a good day/when I’m trying. 7 on an average day just running errands 

 

Including personality/social status? 8.5-9. I’m intelligent, kind, funny, and have a lot of friends (not in a cocky way, I have a lot of friends bc of the fact that I’m a kind and funny person). I also have a lot of confidence 
 

Im never gonna be *the* hottest person on Grindr or in the club or whatever, but I feel comfortable saying I’m in the top 50% at least, and then I work with what I’ve got. So much of attractiveness is perception

 

I had really bad acne as a teen so I have a lot of scars and am really insecure about them, but I have a great body. So I wear crop tights or tight clothing to the club to draw attention to that, or I take my pictures in good lighting (but I also don’t edit/filter them bc then you look fake, and thus less confident)

 

All that to say, work with what you’ve got lol. And do what you can to feel confident in yourself. Youre never gonna have every single guy ever be into you, but if youre hung up on the 2 (or 10, or however many) that aren’t, then youre gonna come off unattractive to the people that otherwise WOULD be interested in you

 

(also I don’t *always* feel confident. I’ve been dumped for another guy and felt insecure for months after. Which I’d talk through with my friends/trusted people. But on dating apps/in the club/on dates w guys, I’d never act insecure or that I was with someone out of my league or anything, even if I felt so. Think of pop albums, we always tell our favs they need to build hype for their work so the GP wants to stream it, we need to build hype for ourselves if we want strangers to be interested in us lol)

my confidence has grown so much over the past few years. I know I'm not to everyone's standard, I'm not tall in the slightest (lol), but I have a pretty face, beautiful hair, and gentle eyes, so I'm making the most of this life and I'm proud to see how far I've come! also, my boyfriend is constantly complimenting me and making me feel very validated in my appearance/demeanor so yeah *knocks on wood* for now I'm in a good place with my perception of myself

Honestly, an 7.5-8. I truly am good looking and handsome, despite being fat. I have a beautiful face and other nice features too (no, not that you pervs). My current partner/the love of my life has given me so much confidence and made me realize my self-worth. I am a pretty amazing person.

This is hard because this depends on so many things…

 

I suffer with acne which really affects my confidence…

 

My acne comes in waves - sometimes my skin will look completely normal and other times I won’t want to leave the house because I think it looks so terrible.

 

On a really, really good day, I’d give myself an 8. On a really, really bad day I’d give myself a 3
