MoonGoodandHappy Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Are 50 years old people listening to teen music / who are teen artists fans weird ? I'm in my late 20s and already feel weird to like lots of teen music but is it creepy / weird for old people at 50 to listen to teen pop music ? 2 2
Alldeezy Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Not really I don't stan people much younger then me but I still support Nessa Barrett, Huddy, Maggie Lindemann in my early 30s .. as long as your not a 40 year old stanning on an 18 year old .. think its kinda innocent. thankfully I only stan one artist but we share the same birth year 1
CristianGarcia Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) This would’ve been weird for 50 year olds a decade ago or so… (the ones that grew up listening to rock) If they’re 50 in 2023 then they were in their mid 20’s during the bubblegum pop era (Britney, Xtna, Nync, etc.) That sound of pop doesn’t vary far from the sound of teen pop today…… Edited September 10, 2023 by CristianGarcia 2
Popular Post Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted September 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2023 Of course not But participating in stan war on pop music forum does though 3 12
Timeless Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Listening to and liking their music is fine. But being a stan is weird. If a 50 year old had a fan account for a 19 year old I'd be very concerned. 1
superben Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 No. I used to have this last.fm friend who was in her 60s and she still tried to explore and enjoy all kinds of music from many many countries around the world, mostly popular music at the time, so you know most of the artists would be very young. I appreciated her experience a lot. 1
Worm Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Late teens/early 20s artists are just where all the money in the recording industry gets pumped to - the best songs from the writing camps get passed to them, the best producers get paid to work on their tracks, and the most innovation can happen there because younger musicians often have new and fresh ideas. Since there's such an emphasis on young artists and the distribution of record label money skews so heavily towards them, there's an argument to be made that a lot of the highest quality music gets made within that demographic (even if the music itself is created by much older and more experienced musicians, or they at least have a hand in the output). Since that's the case, there's nothing weird about older people wanting to listen to younger artists IMO - even if the lyrical content is immature, the music itself generally isn't. 2

Hot Volcano Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Being vocal about it would be weird. 1
Kiel D-01 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Not at all. It’s music, it should be enjoyed by everyone who does. 1
Bloodflowers. Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Yes. Elton John was being very desperate here.
EtherealCat Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 yes its weird, just look at atrl for all the proof you need

SlowGinFizzzz Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 That's such a random thing to worry about. As long as the music resonates with you, enjoy it! 3
thetea Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 no it's fine but being a stan of a teenager or someone significantly younger (20+ years) than you is. it just gives miss lafranz vibes
What_A_Mess Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 How close minded. It’s not weird at all. You like what you like. And sometimes if the music is good enough it transcends demographics. 1
Brunette Ambition Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Yes. Same with all those Disney and Marvel gays pushing 40, even 50. 4
réveuse Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 No, nobody is too old for teen music or literally anything. 3
dumbsparce Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Teen music might make them feel younger and lift them up. Whatever gives you motivation to live an active life in that age is always a plus. 2
Totami Legend Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 (edited) how is that weird? new artists are the cheap copy of older artists / samples their old hits. If you think about It, teens should be ashamed to consume only recycled garbage. Edited September 10, 2023 by Totami Legend 2
The7thStranger Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Not really. The music that they listened to back then, and likely still do today, was also teen music. 1
