discussion Is GUTS 'noisy' or am I getting old?

I think it has to do with taste more than with age. I'm 32 and don't think the album is too noisy at all.

 

SOUR is one of my favorite albums of all time so I might be biased.

You tend to be less receptive to newer music after you turn 25, which is probably the age of at least a quarter of this site, so that honestly may behind the sort of mixed reception the album is getting on here. I guess you could argue her music is geared to a younger audience as well but I personally don't think music has an age limit so.....

 

It also doesn't help that most of this forum is very into those overproduced aging 2010 Max Martin 'bops' and this album isn't anywhere close to that.

The age comments are so ******* annoying. No you don’t have to be a teenage girl to enjoy her music.

Her music is mainly targeted for teens, like every single girl my age listens to her songs. I don’t really see anyone in their 20’s really relating to songs like jealousy, jealousy and bad idea right?

Well my dad who’s in his 50’s loves that song! He randomly found it on YouTube and was playing it a lot. It’s a good song, regardless of age.

i’m not saying that nobody above 20 can enjoy it but i do feel like the target audience is teen girls

I really liked SOUR. GUTS is OK but it doesn't feel as natural as the first album. Whether it was the Josh break up or w/e you could tell a lot of those songs came from a genuine place... GUTS feels a bit contrived imo.

This whole pop rock thing reminds me of Avril Lavigne, an artist I have always hated. Olivia is just less corny, but still, issa "No" from me
