Also there was a literal civil war in 2020. Idk why people tend to forget that. The whole BLM movement was a war fought over civics, just not guns. But it still by definition was a war.

There’s a whole lot more that is psychologically wrong with America and the world these days. Last time I read the news, there was over 160 types of genders. How is that more believable than global warming?

This is the **** I’m talking about. Americans are just concerned about the absolute WRONG things right now. Enough, there are bigger things happening than someone’s gender identity.

If your economic and social aim is to consume, then you are going to consume yourself when there's nothing left to consume

You just described most developed countries

Yes but we still have too much money and too many people so we will just take most down with us.

This is the majority of the world right now. Corporations, corrupt politicians and landlords are screwing over everyone.

A lot of points were made...

I think it's important to point out that some of the economic issues the US is facing are not unique to the US. Housing is expensive and wages aren't high enough in other countries too. Inflation has also affected other countries.

Politically, however, there needs to be a reckoning in America. We're one of the only places that's so harshly divided and one of the only developed nations with basically a fascist party in the mainstream. Until the majority of people are represented with the things we actually want for this country, I don't see things getting any better. I fear our politics are too far broken for things to improve any time soon. It would take generations to undo everything that caused our issues if we were to undo things one by one. I don't know what's going to give, but our political system desperately needs to be reformed and restructured so that the power returns to citizens.

I just think, esp in the US, we’re living in a v unstable time, lots of uncertainty. I don’t think it will be this way forever but what goes up must come down, for a long time we had low interest rates like historically low interest rates, money was cheap due to low interest rates meaning as a result so many companies (esp tech companies) were able to do what they want without a regard for money because investors just give them endless money due to how cheap it was. Wealth and income inequality is a huge problem but honestly it’s always been in America it’s just getting more stark to where people can’t ignore it (during COVID there was a huge amount of millionaires created).

overall, COVID really changed a lot about our economy and who knows how long it will take to rebound or for things to get back to normal. There is also a lot of political instability which creates more drama and chaos. But at some point soon I do think it’ll slow down and we’ll go back to normal… hopefully.

It’s the world not just the US, but the US is far better positioned to recover from this than other Western countries that rely on other countries for resources. Living through an economic and societal collapse isn’t fun but we’ll eventually be fine and things will get better. Until 100 years later when the same **** happens again but we’ll all be dead by that point.

TBH, I think a civil war would have already happened if the political divide weren't everywhere (i.e., in every single territory) in the country. There are no clear territorial lines, which would make a civil war an absolute melee if not an impossibility.

This is what you focus on while places like Florida are banning basic education and books? :hippo:

The whole world except the EU and Australia

America has its own problems such as racism, homophobia, gun ownership issues, school sh**ting incidents, homelessness in the city, high inflation in real estate, etc. But tbh, other countries still view America as among the "top countries" in the world.

I think it will be fine. The only one I see collapsing is social justice. Abortion will be criminalized, Gay marriage will be abolish, Immigration won’t be allowed, etc., and even it’s unthinkable, I think criminalizing interracial marriage is possible again.

I am glad to be in the US than other places that have actual war and bombs being thrown at its boarders.
And don’t get me started on corruption. Coups every election and candidates being assassinated? I will gladly stay here idk :deadbanana4:

Not really.

China is in its flop era & it was supposed to be the next superpower. That didn't happen.

The world is going through a huge recession & this "weird vibe" is just how it's manifesting here.

It's pretty bad, but count yourselves lucky it isn't worse. Have you seen the poverty rate in the UK?

Canada's economy has pretty much stalled too.

Most certainly not

What does doom mean in a world where all the great powers are currently struggling? A sudden collapse? Unlikely. A constant decline? Sure but that don't seem like doom to me
