Gossip_Boy Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 These $5 vinyl must be leftovers they’re trying to get rid of because I don’t see how it is financially viable to keep manufacturing them and selling at such a low price.

But this is the fifth or sixth week since 'Utopia' has been out, so is another week at #1 really worth selling that many vinyl at what surely must be a loss? Idk… they must have over-predicted therefore overproduced and if they don't find a way to sell them, they'll end up at good well by holiday season

The only artist to open with well over that in 2023 is Taylor Swift herself, Speak Now TV 716k. And even One Thing At A Time, which will [apparently] be 2023's biggest album [& obviously without any $5 vinyls], couldn't challenge Swifts opening week. So if these vinyls are actually left over from an open he feels underperformed, that would make him look even worse. Drake might snag the 800k mark but it's hard to imagine much more than that now.
pride4jc1222 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Update: Jimmy Buffett now predicted to be #4:

True, this is week 4 for vinyls at $5 now. So this isn't/wasn't just a 1-wk $ losing marketing strategy. He's done this for a month to help conceal his subpar SEA totals. But, as you point out as well, why are there still 110k more people wanting a $5 vinyl 4 wks into the same sale? Shouldn't that total continue shrinking each week instead of ballooning again? 1

Feanor Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Quote A data-reporting error last weekend resulted in substantially overstated album sales this week for Travis Scott’s UTOPIA (Cactus Jack/Epic). Following the correction of that error, UTOPIA moves down to #3, with our projection now at 67k. HDD Looks like the title needs an update @Renan90 1
Raspberries Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Zach's numbers are amazing. 100k+ SEA on week 2 for a folk album
fridayteenage Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Lol the $5vinyls being 90 percent of the previous estimated sales
family.guy123 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Fantastic sales for Travis Scott. Delresto’s power I think
