Mediterranean food is OBVIOUSLY the supreme :giraffe: and then Japanese, Indian, Mexican, and Italian follow that (in no fixed order)

Chinese isn’t my fav but I won’t usually pass it up

I love Chinese food, more than Japanese or Korean among east asian food. I would think mediterranean cuisine are overrated.

Chinese takeout is the most popular takeout but it's by far the worst option.

Mexican, japanese, Korean, viet, Thai, >>> Chinese food.

You saying Chinese food but then mention Chinese takeout which is known to not be authentic (even though Chinese takeout is banging) lol

But anyways, Chinese food is pretty diverse, probably more so than other types of cuisines

Most westerners don’t even know what real Chinese food is outside of westernized takeout. Sichuan dry pot for example wrecks most dishes imo. The flavor and variety has no bounds. There’s so much to it depending on the region (whether it be Sichuan, Hunan, Guangdong etc). Throw in Taiwanese for extra measure. It defeats most countries cuisines imo.

If anything, people are most ignorant towards Chinese food based on takeout. Similar to Mexican, but Mexican for the most part is appropriately rated and acknowledged for its authenticity (at least in the America’s).. overrated goes to Italian cuisine.

Bingo. Italian food is overrated and overly expensive

The Americanized dishes are not for me but Cantonese food and more regional cuisines from the mountainous areas are god tier.

Um, no. No other culture has jianbing, or dan dan noodles, or Peking duck. Chinese cuisine is incredibly varied and delicious and it deserves its popularity. To say its overrated would be an insult to all of the dedicated cooks who keep the tradition alive.

Authentic Chinese is great, but I will add that westernized Chinese is greatly underrated. Shrimp fried rice with some chicken balls and beef and broccoli? Love that stuff.

Yes, it’s overrated. Indian food is the best, just so much flavour.
