Why did JoJo's rerecordings fail yet Taylor's succeeded?

1) Taylor was a much bigger artist when the re-recording started.

2) Although Taylor’s re-recordings may be a it off, Jojo’s are infinitely subpar to the originals.

Jojo has great numbers for a rerecording

Leave and Too Little Too Late have over 100M streams combined, some 2000s singles are struggling to surpass 50M streams and she did it in a few years with a new version

Be SSSOOO ******* for real if you think taylor has more vocal ability than Jojo :bibliahh:

the only reason JoJos vocals don’t sound the best on the re-records if because she stupidly recorded them when she was on tour with laryngitis. Jojo can outsing taylor swift without even trying. JoJos vocals on her last two sound better than Taylor. Hell JoJos 12 year old vocals sound better than Taylor now.

it still takes plenty of time to re-record and with that she could easily put out two to three new albums (and b4 you say she couldn't, she prolly has enough materials from folklore/evermore writing sessions and other things in the vault). those brand new albums would make a lot more money than six "front-loaded" re-recorded old albums.

not only does taylor not do it like most artists, which is release and be done w it, she also makes a tiny era for each of the re-recordings.

so idk why some of yall call it cash grab and not a risk when it seems like taylors the only artist who has successful re-recorded albums. does risk always have to be bombed/flopped/panned or sexual?

This is EXACTLY what ATRL/stan twitter mean when they talk about "risks", every. single. time. Apparently, if you always succeed in your career, you're never taking risks apparently. Which of course is a very stupid/shallow way of viewing what a "risk" is but that's the way it is :toofunny3:

JoJo had brief, moderate success in the mid-2000s.  She only has one top 10 single on the BB Hot 100 being "Too Little Too Late" which peaked at #3.  Her debut album is only certified Platinum and her second album is only certified Gold despite being released in market that was friendlier to physical album sales.  I'm sure because of her label issues that these certifications haven't been updated, but for the the time they were released in these certifications aren't that impressive.  JoJo has a very small, niche fanbase if that.  There was no way her re-recordings regardless of the quality were going to do much impact numbers wise.  ATRL isn't reflective of the GP, nobody was checking for JoJo in 2018 - over a decade past her peak relevance.  No shade to JoJo, I bought her first two albums back then, but the numbers are what they are.

Comparing her to Taylor Swift, one of the most successful artists ever is comparing apples to oranges.  Taylor has massive legions of fans that have been there since day 1, they hold a lot of nostalgic value in her past material.  JoJo doesn't have a massive fanbase and the nostalgic value of her songs isn't comparable to the more popular pop/r&b hits of the 00s.

Obviously because Taylor is much bigger.

Who makes a thread to set up JoJo of all people... :rip:

Because sadly, JoJo's celebrity had long died by the time she re-recorded her early material and got out from under her legal battle with Crackground records.

But you already knew this. Don't know why you tryna set Joanna up to be dragged in the name of Swift, like she even needs any more gassing  Jojo bothers no one.

Same. I though this was about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

How old are you guys? :rofl:And are y’all American?

Too Little Too Late wasn’t sung in the same key as the original so it lost some of the essence that made the song pop. But overall at the time of the re-recordings, Taylor was at a bigger point in her career than Jojo. Taylor was still globally touring and releasing number 1 albums and getting top 10s, Jojo has not and hasn’t had notoriety in a while and it’s sad because she super talented. Her and Jesse J are great singers who should have had bigger careers but the labels were trash. Matter fact, let me go listen to Joanna.

seems like only taylor's re-recordings pay off, everyone else makes very little money out of their new versions.

"b-b-but it's not a risk ":juanny:

Using a thread made to praise someone as powerful and privileged as Taylor to punch down at Jojo of all people. :deadbanana4:

This thread filled with nasty people proud of their ignorance, going "I don't even know who that is!!"

one is JoJo, other one is Taylor. It’s that simple.

Taylor has worked hard to incentivize people to stream the re-recordings. Great marketing, music videos, extra never before heard songs and the drama with her old label all create interest

Why is JoJo catching this stray :toofunny3:

This is a dumb question. What do you expect us to answer?

I mean obviously Taylor is huge and has the most loyal, diehard fan base. She has charted high on itunes by accident, her team released static and it charted high :dies:

but also, Jojo was literally 12 when she signed and recorded her first album. Her debut was really good and she was so young. Leave (Get Out), Baby It's You, Not That Kinda Girl. It Then her sophomore album, she had a hit with Too Little Too Late. She was honestly done so dirty by her label. She is so talented. Her cover of Marvin's Room got a lot of attention. I think the issue is she had been out of the spotlight so long, we had so many new pop/r&b girls plus her voice had changed drastically. I love her and supported but the new version are just bad. Obviously she can't sound like she did at 12/16. She still has a great voice it just sounds so different. Taylor's voice has changed but not as drastic, she sounds the same just better. She also made it fun for the fans/gp by releasing new songs and making it it's own thing. I really thought she'd record em all and just drop them on streaming sites but ofc she's smart and capitalized more off it.
