Why is this thread so negative? The song isn't even doing that bad :toofunny2:

I Feel so sorry for Leigh-Anne, this song is a full of rhythm and a club-banger and a BOP

But sadly the GP only cares about the first member who quits the girl group (Camilla Cabello, Jess Nelson and Victoria Beckham) and promotes them.

And when the girls try to do their solo projects, they becomes new artist because they where knew as a whole group

Nah, all they've done is radio and YouTube interviews, nothing more. That would've worked for LM but not for their solo material. Jesy and LA did the exact same thing promo-wise with the difference that Jesy had Nicki and her messiness on board and that brought attention to the single.

The song came out two months late, we missed pretty much all summer, and by the time she can book some TV slots for performances should she want to I'm not so sure if the single will have a second wing or not.

At this point, I think she just wants to release music she likes and see where it takes her but the energy and effort that needs to be put to at least bring attention to the music is lacking and I wouldn't blame her if she just doesn't have the energy to do it, she knows well what it takes to build a brand.

Heard this on radio a few days ago. Good for her 'cause here in Italy I think they never played anything from Little Mix :clap3:

She needs to get the album presale up if the label will let her and post multiple different covers, signed copies etc and all we can hope for is a decent album peak now and let the music speak for itself instead of chart

Right. Otherwise they'll just keep releasing a single every 6 months hoping it magically becomes a hit.

Down to #66 on Apple Music :doc:

This song could’ve been her first Top 10 as a solo artist had she released it first. Urgh.

I just hope this doesn’t push the album back massively or a Normani situation. I know the label will not release the album in this state with no hit songs. Hopefully Leigh keeps releasing good music!

She’s in Vegas, for some reason

Mess.

I think it is great her songs have charted but I really expected this song to do better, mainly because of the incredible video and having way better playlisting than DSL.

I am shocked how little this is being supported by the LM fanbase.

Vegas could be a non work trip which she's allowed to take I guess.

Regarding how poor the LM fanbase have supported this song, I'm surprised by that too. I will wait to see how Jade and Perrie do before I decide whether all LM fans have jumped ship and are now just waiting for them to reunite to be interested in them again.

She’s in Vegas for a writing camp, working with Sean Garrett it seems

Honestly, I’m still really excited for her next steps. I’ve honestly stopped caring or hoping for her to get a smash hit, I just want her to fulfil her artistic vision and release something different to her Little Mix output to show a different side to her. My Love is a good direction for her and I’ve enjoyed the song and video. The only thing that was going to make this hiatus bearable for me was the promise of three different projects exploring different avenues (Leigh with RnB, Perrie with pop rock and Jade with dance pop)

So far Leigh is the only one who’s actually bothered to release something and she seems to be actively making things happen, so I remain perched!

Song has passed 3M on Spotify and the video is about to hit 2M on YouTube

Sean Garrett??!! What are they thinking? That man hasn’t had any noteworthy songs since 2008. What’s her A&R thinking? She needs to keep working with the younger, up and coming producers.

I'm officially nervous for her.

It always annoys me how labels/teams automatically point to the material as "the problem" when it rarely is the case (in isolation).

My Love is damn near as perfect as a "Leigh Anne solo single" could be.  It's big, screams "I've arrived," is on brand, and is sonically on the pulse of what's hot.

The issues are:

* My Love should have been the lead. I can't stress this enough. Solo launch grace generally only extends to single #1, which is why the inferior DSL managed a #11 peak.

* Timing: a summer song dropping at the tail end of summer doesn't make any sense.

* Her promo is all over the place. It's giving "a little here, a little there" and is so bizarrely spread out when all signs point to her needing to focus on release week. Edit: Just realized her book comes out in October, so they are probably trying to use the upcoming slots to sell everything (song and book). Still, no.

* Ayra is a great feature musically, but she doesn't yet have much commercial stock. The benefit was always gonna be hers rather than Leigh's. With Leigh being at Warner, surely they could have nabbed a bigger name from their broader roster. Burna Boy, who is at sister label Atlantic, would have been perfect. Big act, still in Afro space, and has achieved success with a similar collab (Jorja Smith's Be Honest).

* Budget use: I kinda like that they are doing $$$ saving moves like shooting the video in Turkey and Lagos and aren't blowing the budget on #1 placements on NMF or Hot Hits UK. But they aren't plunging enough into streaming payola. She has a steep hill to climb, so it kind of has to be a higher priority. Similarly, TikTok payola too. All the labels do it and it still feels doable in terms of helping making a sleeper hit (look at Tyla Water).

Having her go back to the drawing board to record is scary if they don't implement much of the above.

At the same time, I very much subscribe to the idea that there's always an angle.

If My Love really is DOA, then they ought to put out the other song with Love in the title, drop it as an EP "pack" with the previous singles and brand it "The Intro" or something similar.  We've been here with many of these girls before. "Those were the songs I had in my system then...I was filled with so much inspiration that I went back into the studio and this DEBUT album came out of me so quickly and represents who I am now" lol.

Her whole solo journey is being managed so badly and I’m really frustrated now as a fan and someone who has followed Leigh for years.

Where is the passion, the energy, the REASON why she went solo in these performances? There’s nothing! Granted My Love has a bit more energy and a bit of a fierceness but that empty stage and lack of dancers / lighting make it so dull. Like I can’t think of a reason to rewatch either of them.

Her management is not the problem, they've actually done a good job. Radio and digital promo is the most important for her, some of y'all are in for a rude awakening when she does a television performance and it barely makes a dent in her chart performance or streaming numbers. None of the acts that are charting high rely or even benefit that much from that kind of promo these days. She's had a decent streaming push, but she could do with more, but that requires more investment from the label and they are probably testing the waters right now. I don't think we have to worry about her album being shelved just yet, they will want a hit first but it's still early days in her career and we have to be a bit more patient and accept that she's starting from scratch. The label still are clearly invested in her future if they are still paying for studio time and commissioning writing camps.

lord, the dramatics :rip: Leigh will be just fine, she was never going to smash out of the gate and doubt that is her priority anyway, just let the girl release her music that she loves, she's a hard worker and this flopping really isn't the end of the world, this is literally only her second single :ace:

He co-wrote and executive produced several songs off of one of the biggest R&B albums of the decade so far.
