It will be my first ever tropical storm and ofc it’s during the day I have plans to step out I live near Long Beach, and my job is in Torrance. Depending on what Hilary does, I'm anxious about the affects. I remember getting the affects of Kay last year but Hilary might be worse.

The waters just off the coast aren't warm enough to support hurricanes like the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean tend to be. The last tropical cyclone to make an actual landfall in California was in 1939. Prior to that, the last tropical cyclone to come EXTREMELY close to us was a hurricane in 1858. So an event like Hilary seems to only come around every 80 years or so. 2
Ciel Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I was planning to go to Yosemite for my bday & now I can't

bad guy Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Jealous I won’t be in California in time to experience it.
Pop Life Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 There's no way this is reaching LA as anything more than heavy rain so I'm jealous I won't be there to enjoy
izzyinsane Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Queen Hilary making her debut in California.

Breathe On Moi Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 the strike difference from the reception to when it’s happening to us on the east coast
G.U.Y_Del_Rey Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams Let it wash away my sanity 'Cause I wanna feel the thunder, I wanna scream Spoiler Stay safe

Remembering the San Diego Hurricane of 1858 | The Weather Channel This article is wrong about S Cal water temps to an extent though. Now they usually reach maximums in the mid-70s off the San Diego coast in August, not 63. San Diego Beach was 73.6 earlier today. And now the NHC has upgraded part of its 1st ever West Coast Tropical Storm Watch to a Warning.

Raver Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 In the LA area & I just got home from work. It’s like a normal rainy day so far

BrokenMachine Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Well, the storm degraded so hopefully there's just gonna be a moderate rain for the next hours. My relatives from Tijuana are having a good time enjoying the rain. Still, it's such an anomaly for a tropical storm to make it that far
